A Fat-Free Treat

Here is a fat-free treat for you. A great little paper cake! I used Tags, Bags, Boxes & More for the cake boxes. I cut them at 7" from a brown cardstock to seem like a chocolate cake. I pieced the boxes together then wrapped them with a white ribbon to make it seem like a vanilla filling. I used part of the box to create the fondant style "frosting." I then cut them out and used the Textile embossing folder. I used a scalloped border punch along the edge for an added effect. I used Mother's Day Boquet to create my flowers. They were cut at 1 1/2," 1 1/4," 1" and 3/4." I curled each piece and sprayed it with some shimmer mist. I also added a pearl into the center of each flower. I also added a butterfly to the center of my cake. I used Everyday Pop-Up Cards to cut the butterfly at 3." I cut two white layers for some stability, then sprayed it with some shimmer mist as well. I then cut out two of the pink layers. I then used some tutti fruity Glimmer Mist to spray the pink layers. I adhered one of the layers to the white part and I adhered only part of the second one and popped the wings up.

Elephant Baby Card

This is a quick and simple baby card I made today, but I think it turned out really cute! It is 4 1/4"x5 1/2." I made the card base from white cardstock. I then cut four strips of patterned cardstock at 4 1/2." Two of them are 1 1/8" wide and two are 1" wide. I adhered them to the card base, then wrapped it with a ribbon. I stamped my sentiment, using bamboo leaves ink by Tsukineko. The elephant is from Everyday Pop-Up Cards, cut at 2 1/2." One of the reasons I got this cartridge was because of this elephant image...I just love it!! I added some turquoise Stickles for his eye and glossy accents on the tusk to finish it all off.

Saluting Eagle

This card was made using the eagle from Campin' Critters. He is cut at 5 1/2." The card base is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used white cardstock, then cut a red layer 1/8" smaller and the blue star paper 1/8" smaller than that. I off-set the eagle a little for a more unique look. The large pale blue star is from George and Basic Shapes, cut at 2 1/2." The three smaller stars are two star punches, then layered together. I also off-set the stars. The brown part of the eagle is flocked. I used gems and pearls for the badges on the sash. His eyes are vintage photo Distress Stickles and I used glossy accents on his beak and crackle accents on his feet. The red and white stars are covered in star dust and x-mas red Stickles. I also used a pop-dot to adhere the middle star.

Guest Designer at Cooking with Cricut!

I am so excited to be a guest designer at Cooking with Cricut! They are such a great challenge blog, with fun challenges and an awesome design team. I am honored to have been asked and I can't wait to show you what I came up with!

I am featuring the Campin' Critters cartridge. When this cartridge first came out I couldn't wait to get it. My husband and I love to camp and the images on it are so cute! For my first project I created a double layout showcasing some pictures of a trip we took to Valdez, AK with some friends of ours. The background paper is from Debbie Mumm. All the pictures are 3 1/2"x5" and I double matted them with red and blue cardstock. The mats are 1/8" larger than each layer. I used Campin' Critters for the moon, sun, bear and wolf. The moon and sun are cut at 3" and the bear at 3 1/2" and the wolf at 4." I embossed the dark blue layer on the moon with Swiss Dots, then used some flocking on the light blue portion of his hat. I added a light blue pearl and some orange Stickles on the star, then finished him off with some black enamel accents for his eyes. I used the black enamel accents on the eyes and nose of the bear and also pop-dotted him for some dimension. The sun has orange Stickles, glossy accents on the bugle and black enamel accents for his eyes. The wolf has glossy accents on the triangle and his nose, white flocking on his hat and black pearls for his eyes. The picnic table is from Camp Out, cut at 2 1/2" and the title is from Pooh Font Set, cut at 1 3/4." I used pop-dots on the title as well. The "dinner" and "breakfast" parts are from Cursive 101, cut at 1," and welded together with my Gypsy.

For my other project I created a birthday card. I actually made two of these, they are for my cousins. They are both born on the 30th of a month, so their golden birthdays are coming up. My mom requested a couple of cards for them. I decided to use one of my favorite cuts on Campin' Critters....bigfoot!

The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." The two patterned cardstocks are from The Guy Stack by DCWV. The tan piece of carstock is cut at 5 3/4"x4." The green plaid piece is 1/4" smaller. Bigfoot is cut at 3 1/2." I used Birthday Bash to cut the numbers at 1," which I then covered in gold Stickles. For the inside of the card I used the same green plaid and tan cardsocks. I used my computer to do the sentiment, then cut the paper to size. I covered the word "golden" with gold Stickles, I also drew gold Stickles around the edge of the tan cardstock.

50 Years

This is a 12"x12" layout I did of my grandparents. They are my father's parents and this was taken at their 50th wedding reunion. That was quite a few years ago and they are still together. All the patterned paper is from The Rustic Stack by DCWV and all the solid paper is from The Shimmer Stack by DCWV. The piece of floral patterned paper is cut at 11 1/2"x9." The yellow patterned paper is cut at 11"x7." The circle is the same patterned paper as the 12"x12" background, it was cut using George and Basic Shapes at 9." The photo is 5 5/8"x4." I matted it twice, with pink patterned paper and the same yellow patterned paper as the large rectangle. The mats are 1/4" larger than the previous layer. I used Mother's Day Boquet for the flowers. The yellow one is made with layers that are 3," 2 1/2" and 2." I used some rust colored pearls for the center of the flower and pop-dots to adhere it. The blue-green flower is made with layers cut at 2 1/2," 2 1/4," 2" and 1 3/4." I embossed it with the Textile folder, used pop-dots to piece the layers together and a large gold pearls for the flower center. The orange flower is made from layers that are 3," 2 3/4," 2 1/2," 2 1/4" and 2." I embossed it with the Victoria folder and used some pale blue-green pearls for the center of the flower. I used some blue-green paper for the title, which is cut at 1 1/2" using Stone Script. I cut the leafy vine from Cindy Loo, at 5" and the fit to length feature, it is also cut using the same blue-green paper.

Pioneer Park

It has been a while since I have participated in a Cooking With Cricut challenge, but I am so glad to be back. I have been so busy lately. I just started school again, so I have all kinds of homework and that fun stuff. Their challege this week is "Family Fun," so I created a double layout with some pictures of my mom's trip to visit my husband and me in Alaska.

It is a 12"x12" double layout. All the paper I used is from K&Company. The photos are all various sizes. The three on the bottom of the left page are 3 1/2"x5." I matted them all on one piece of dark blue paper. The title is from ZooBalloo, cut at 1 1/4." I matted them on strips of dark blue paper as well. I then used a dark blue marker to add some doodling. The hiking guy is from Going Places, cut at 3 1/2," and I cut off the walking stick. The jumbled "discover" word is from Graphically Speaking, cut at 2 1/2" and covered with weathered wood Distress Stickles. The two fish are from Nifty Fifties, the larger one is cut at 4 1/2" and the smaller one is cut at 3 1/2." I covered the smaller one in baby blue Stickles and pop-dotted the larger one. I also added a long space for journalling.

Cupcake Birthday Card Set

This is a little birthday card gift set that I put together this morning. I made 5 cards for it, all of them are 3 1/2"x3 1/2." I made two of them with the striped cardstock and three of them with the polka-dotted cardstock. All the patterned cardstock came from The Celebration Stack by DCWV. I wrapped each card with some ribbon, turquoise for the polka-dotted cards and orange for the striped cards. I used George and Basic Shapes to cut out the circles. The large circles are 3" and the small ones are 1 1/2." I then stamped my cupcake image onto the large circle and the sentiment onto the small circle. I adhered everything down, using pop-dots on the small circles. I added some orange and turquoise Stickles around the edges of the circles. I also used Stickles for the sprinkles on the cupcakes. I used turquoise, yellow, orange and thistle colors. I stamped the image on red paper and cut out the cherry to paper-piece it onto my image. I then added some glossy accents to the cherry. Simple, but fun! Enjoy!!

First of the Month Challenge #21

Our third challenge for this month is to create a double layout. I created another double layout for my friends' wedding album. The background cardstock is from the Formal Affair Stack by DCWV. The four photos on the left are all 3 1/2"x3 1/2." The two smaller ones on the right are 4"x4" and the large one is 4 1/2"x6." I matted them all with some coral colored cardstock and then matted the largest one with some aqua glitter cardstock. I used the same glitter cardstock for the title. "The Bride" is from Sweethearts and "gets ready" is from All Mixed Up. I used Sweethearts, Tie the Knot and Formal Occasion for the three dresses. All three are cut at 3." I used pop-dots to adhere the top and bottom ones. I used three Nestabilities for the journalling label and finished it off with some white pearls.

First of the Month Challenge #20

Our second challenge for this month is to create something for your craft space. I decided to create three corkboards for my wall in my craft room. I had these three 14"x14" corkboards and I just added some titles to them. The "notes" is from Don Juan and I used the Birds & Swirls Cuttlebug folder to emboss the letters. The "ideas" is from Cricut American Alphabet, one of the pre-loaded cartridges on the E2, and I used purple Stickles around the edges of those letters. The "inspiration" is from Opposites Attract, the opposite feature. I used Swiss Dots to emboss those letters. I can't remember what sizes the letters are, but I used my Gypsy to size them all.

First of the Month Challenge #19

Welcome to another set of First of the Month Challenges, hosted by Card Creations & More by C. Our first challenge for you today is to use the Simply Charmed cartridge. For my project I created a fall card using the scarecrow cut from Simply Charmed. The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used dark brown cardstock for the card base, then cut some orange cardstock 1/4" smaller and the leaf cardstock 1/4" smaller than the orange. The scarecrow is cut at 4." I used black pearls for his eyes and buttons on his overalls. I used some brown and pink chalk for his cheeks. I also used the "happy fall" sentiment from Simply Charmed. I used my Gypsy to hide the face cut in the "a" in "fall" and added a cutout from the "a" in "happy." I put my scarecrow on a popsicle stick then adhered him to the card base, using pop-dots to adhere his head and arms down. I used some glossy accents on his shoes and adhered the sentiment over the top.
