Patriotic T-Shirts

My brother's wedding is on the Fourth of July.  The day before, they are having their rehearsal dinner and it is a red, white, and blue theme.  I made my husband and I some t-shirts to wear for the fun times: 

I cut the striped United States, using the "Stand and Salute" cartridge, from freezer paper and ironed on the image.  I then painted in the stripes red.  Once they were dry I ironed on the negative of the image and the stripes that had been removed from the image.  I then painted it blue.  Once it was all dry I ironed on the sentiment, which was cut with silver glitter iron-on vinyl.  I used the "Holidays Through the Year Iron-On" cartridge for the sentiment.

I tie-dyed my husband's shirt.  I did the bulls-eye technique where you gather it up in the middle and put your rubber bands or zip ties (which is what I used) where you want them.  You then add the color to each section.  So, in my case the outer section was blue, the next red, the next was left white, then red again, and I did the rest of the shirt in blue.  Once it was all dried and cleaned, I cut a star from the "Hannah Montana" cartridge, sized to fit in my blue circle, from freezer paper and ironed on the negative.  I then painted the star with white fabric paint.  Voila!  Captain America tie dye t-shirt!

Just a Note...

Today's card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4."  I used pink card stock for the base.  The grey mat is 5 3/8"x4 1/8" and the white mat is 5 1/4"x4."  The sentiment is computer generated.

I then ran the white layer through my Cuttlebug to embossing the background.  The embossing folder I used is called "Scrolls Background" and is by Darice.  Once it was embossed I inked the edges and face of it with victorian velvet Distress Ink by Tim Holtz.

The music note is from the "Hannah Montana" Cricut cartridge.  It can be found on page 73 of the handbook.  I used the basic (shift) and shadow (shift) features.  I cut it so that the shadow (grey) was 3," which makes the base (pink) 2.347" tall.  I covered the pink layer of the note with tattered rose Stickles, for a little more subdued sparkle.

I also used a computer generated sentiment for the inside.  The white layer is 5 1/4"x4" and the grey mat is 5 3/8"x4 1/8."

Daddy's Girl

This is a two page layout I did for a few challenges. Cooking With Cricut's challenge is to have at least three flowers on your project. They have a twist though, you can use either of the sketches they have, one for a two page layout and one for a card. The sketches are optional, but I decided to give the layout one a try. I've never used a sketch to create a layout before, so this was fun. I also made this using the color combo provided by Color Throwdown: pear pizzazz, kraft & blushing bride. The challenge at Crafty Creations Challenge is to include birds, polka dots and the color green on your project.

The pages are 12"x12." I used kraft cardstock for the background. The large oval that is split between the two pages is from George and Basic Shapes and is cut at 10" from a green polka dot cardstock. The pink strips are 12"x2 1/2." The birds are both from Home Decor. The one on the left page is cut at 5." I used green cardstock and cut the bird using the shadow feature. I then cut the bird normally from a pale pink polka dot paper. The bird on the right page is cut at 3 1/2" with the green cardstock and the shadow feature, then regularly with the pink polka dot paper. I cut the legs off this bird though. I used eucalyptus Stickles to fill in all the green cardstock on the bird. The flowers are from Shall We Dance. The flower on the left is cut at 3 1/2" and the bunch on the right are cut at 5 1/2." I ran the leaves of the bunch through the Cuttlebug using the Polka Dot embossing folder. The title is from Hannah Montana, cut at 2 1/2." I used cotton candy Stickles on the "girl." The picture mats are cut at 1/4" larger than the previous layer. On the left page: the top mat is for a 4"x6" picture, the bottom left mat is for a 4"x4" picture and the bottom right mat is for a 3"x5" picture. On the right page: the top mat is for a 4"x6" picture and the bottom three are for 3"x3" pictures. Everything is adhered down to the background with my ATG gun, except the birds, which are pop-dotted.

Christmas Cards from Licensed Cartridges

Since I've already shown my Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse cards I figure I will post the other cards I have made using my licensed cartridges.
















The card on the left is from Cars. I was wondering what to do with this cartridge, until I remembered Filmore and all his peace signs. The card on the right is from Hannah Montana. This was a cartridge I almost didn't buy, but I really liked a lot of the fonts on it. I used one of the fonts and the frame is from the cartridge as well. Finally, the card on the bottom is from Sesame Street Friends cartridge. I used Super Grover and the inside of the card says, "Have a SUPER Christmas!"

The Song in My Heart

This is a 5 1/2"x4 1/4" card. I used a dark gray cardstock for the base. The patterned background paper is from the Spring Stack by DCWV and cut 1/4" smaller than the card. I used some light pink cardstock as the base for my stamped images. The sentiment stamp is by Fiskars and the paper is cut at 2 5/8"x1 5/8." The music stamp is from Stampendous and the paper is cut at 4"x1 3/4." I cut a 5" circle out of a dark pink cardstock and trimmed it to fit the card. The guitar is cut at 2" from Hannah Montana with the pop princess feature. I cut it out of the same dark pink cardstock as the circle so that it would blend and give a pseudo-embossed look. The musical notes are also from Hannah Montana and cut at 3/4" out of the same dark gray cardstock as the card base. I used a black pen to draw the lines.

I used sketch #82 from Card Patterns for the layout of the card. I rotated the sketch for my card. The colors are from this week's Color Throwdown: pink pirouette, basic gray & rich razzleberry. The theme comes from Crafty Creations Challenge, which is a music and/or dance theme.

Music to My Ears

I think this card is a perfect summer card...so full of color and warmth. I was just in the summer mood because it is actually sunny today. It seems like we have had a lot of rain this summer. That's probably because this is the summer my husband and I have been doing all our vacationing. Oh well, as long as we get some sunny days here and there. This one is for a few challenges today. The layout of the card comes from Card Patterns, sketch #74. I played around with this sketch for a while before I came up with something I liked for it, and I really like how this one turned out. I used summer colors to work with For Fun Challenges this week. I also went with Cuttlebug Challenges and used their "CHA CHA CHA Challenge," which was to use something inspired by music, dance or energy. All the paper came from the DCWV Flower Power stack. I used the Hannah Montana cartridge for the butterfly/guitar cut and the music notes. The "congrats" is from Beyond Birthdays. I also used my Cuttlebug to emboss the flowers on the bottom. I wasn't sure how it would look when I started that part, but I like the texture it lends to look at the bottom of the card. I did some doodling on the letters and guitar to finish it off. The inside sentiment says, "your accomplishment was music to my ears." It is pretty generic, but I didn't have anyone specific in mind when I made it. Enjoy!
