Blue Butterfly

Here is another Mother's Day card! I made this one 4 1/4"x5 1/2." I decided to go with a rather monochromatic look using blues, although I added some white as well. The background is stamped twice, in two different colors, and slightly layered. I thought it gave it a nice effect. The butterfly is cut at 3." I used some foam adhesive to pop-up its wings. I added glossy accents to the body and Stickles to the wings for a little more texture. The label for the sentiment is cut at 2 1/4." I stamped my sentiment and added some small white pearls to finish it off. Enjoy!
Supplies used:
  • Paper: The Paper Company
  • Stamps: Scrappy Moms Stamps - sentiment, Inkadinkadoo - background swirl
  • Ink: Tsukineko - mediterranean blue, moonlight white
  • Stickles - dark blue
  • Pearls
  • Cricut cartridges: Serenade - butterfly, Elegant Edges - label
  • Glossy Accents

Gnome

This is a 4 1/2"x6 1/4" card. I used the beaded circles Nestabilities die for my background and filled in the beaded part with pearls and gems. I used Peachy Keen stamps for the gnome and face. I paper-pieced the gnome. The flowers are from Mother's Day Boquet, as are the leaves. I added a bunch of Stickles for a little more bling. I used a stamp from My Pink Stamper for the sentiment. I put the flowers and gnome on with pop-dots.

Fire Truck

I made this card for the fiance of my husband's cousin. He just recently became a volunteer firefighter and was extremely excited about it. My husband and I are both very happy for him, and a little jealous since we are not currently on a fire department. :) The card is 4"x9" and I used cardstock from my stash for most of it. The fire truck is cut at 3." I used pop-dots to adhere the wheels and ladder to the truck and to adhere the truck to the card base. I stamped my sentiment and then went over it again with black diamond Stickles. I added yellow Stickles to the headlight and top light. I also gave the truck a coat of glossy accents to make it bright, shiny, red truck! :)
Supplies used:
  • Cardstock: The Paper Company
  • Patterned paper: Paper House Productions
  • Cartridges: Beep Beep - fire truck
  • Stamp: The Paper Company - "Greetings"
  • Ranger: glossy accents, Stickles - black diamond and yellow

"B"ee Wall Decor

Wow...it has been about a week and a half since I last posted a project! School has been taking up so much of my free time. I have had a lot of tests recently for my EMT class and I have been working on all my skills necessary for passing the national registry exam. I am nervous about it, but I have been doing well, so I think I will be okay. I have two more weeks of classes, then I will be done and hopefully able to craft and post more regularly. I have really missed crafting on a regular basis. Anyways, that aside, here is the project I made today:
I have been wanting to make something like this for a long time now. I just didn't have an exact idea in mind. All I knew was that I wanted our monogram, the letter "B" and some bees. Well, the challenges at Bitten by the Bug 2 and My Sheri Crafts were the perfect incentive I needed to create my wall decor. I used a patterned background paper, but wanted a little more texture and definition behind my features, so I created a honeycomb background using Garden Soup and my Gypsy. The letter "B" is cut at 8," the bee on the lower left is 4" and the bee on the upper right is cut at 3 1/2." I used a lot of pop-dots and foam adhesive for my bees. I then put it in a white shadowbox frame and hung it on my wall. I love it and so does my husband!
Supplies used:
  • Patterned paper: K&Company
  • Cardstock: Core'dinations and The Paper Company
  • Cartridges: Letter Envy - letter "B," Art Noveau - bees, Garden Soup - honeycomb

Well, I have been absent lately.  Believe me, I have missed crafting, but other things have been consuming my time!  I am nearing the end of my school year and my EMT class has hit "crunch time."  We have our National Registration tests coming up and our skills verifications, so I have been studying for that like crazy.  I hope to get back to crafting when I have successfully passed all my tests!  :)

With Heartfelt Sympathy

Here is a nice and simple sympathy card I made for a couple of challenges today. It is 6"x6" and all the smaller squares are 1 3/4"x1 3/4." I used the birdbath cut from French Manor and cut it at 3." The sentiment is a stamp I had in my stash and I framed it using a Nestabilities die. I used some pop-dots to adhere the birdbath to the card and also the bird to the birdbath. I also added glossy accents to the water in the birdbath, which I think gives it a great effect.
Supplies used:
  • Cricut cartridge: French Manor - birdbath
  • Nestabilities die: labels 4
  • Stamp: MSE Clear Stamps - sympathy sentiment
  • Ink: Tsukineko - night sky
  • Cardstock: Martha Stewart - all cardstock except the blue ones; The Paper Company - blue cardstock
  • Glossy Accents
  • Pearls: Recollections

Hippo Birdie to Ewe!

I haven't crafted in over a week! I have been so busy with school, work, and spending time with my husband now that he is home (and is on leave for a month). I just needed to do something, so I created this cute little card for some challenges. The card is quite large, 5 3/4"x8 3/4." I used a fun plaid cardstock and wrapped it with a bunch of ribbon. My large glitter orange square is 5 1/4"x5 1/4" and I rounded the corners. Each of my little white squares is 2 1/2" and I rounded a corner on each one. I used parts of Scrappy Moms Stamps for the sentiments on each square and a whole stamp for the inside sentiment. My little animals are all 2," except for the poodle, which is 2 1/2," and the number 2 is 1 3/4." I flocked the belly of the bird, all the fleece of the sheep, and all the fluff of the poodle. I used Peachy Keen face stamps for all the animals. I added pearls to the flower on the hippo and the number 2. I tied a bow with the white ribbon and added three buttons, all laced with embroidery floss. I finished it off with some white pearls on the ribbon.
