Floral Birthday

I'm not usually one for pastels, but this is a birthday card for my mother-in-law, so i thought I would go for it. The card base is 3 1/2"x5" and I used some cardstock from the Luxury Stack by DCWV. I wrapped it with some sheer purple ribbon. The flower is cut from Florals Embellished at 4." I used pop-dots to adhere the yellow and pink layers for some added dimension. I added some purple gems and cotton candy Stickles to the flower to bling it up. I stamped my senitment on some purple cardstock, using purple hydrangea ink by Tsukineko. The stamp is by Scrappy Moms Stamps. I trimmed it to fit and made the puple cardstock into a banner. I then used some pop-dots to create a wave in the banner and finished it off with some green pearls.

Penguins

This is my second birthday card of the four I need to make. This one is for my dad. I thought the penguins were the perfect winter theme for a winter birthday....plus he really likes penguins. The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used black cardstock for the card base. I then cut some blue patterned paper 1/4" smaller and adhered it down. I cut some black cardstock at 3 1/2"x4 1/2." I cut some white cardstock 1/8" smaller and embossed it with the Happy Birthday embossing folder and my Cuttlebug. I stamped my penguins on some white cardstock and colored it with my Prismacolor pencils. I matted it with some black cardstock and adhered it to the embossed rectangle. I wrapped the embossed rectangle with some black twine and added a button. I then adhered it to the card base. The senitment was stamped on white cardstock and also matted it with black cardstock. I used pop-dots to adhere the sentiment to the card.

Pretty in Pink

December is a month of birthdays for me. I have to make four birthday cards for people this month. This one is for one of my closest friends. The card is 5"x5." I used silver cardstock for the card base. I cut nine 1 1/2" square from some pink, black, white and grey patterned papers. The patterned papers are from a Christmas stack by DCWV. The bird is from Florals Embellished, cut at 2 1/2." I added some glam pink Stickles and some gems for some bling. The sentiment is My Pink Stamper. I stamped it on some pink cardstock, then double matted it with some black and white.

Snowflake

It feels like so long since I have done any crafting...or posted anything on my blog. It has been close to a week, which isn't that long, but too long for me. I have just been so busy with work and school. Black Friday was sooooo busy at work, so was Saturday. When I got home from work both days I just didn't feel like doing anying except being lazy. I felt like I had earned it though. School is going to be over soon, well the semester at any rate. I am looking forward to a little break from that because next semester is going to be even crazier than this one was.

Anyway, back to my project. This is a 5"x5" card. I used brown cardstock for the card base. I trimmed some aqua patterned paper 1/4" smaller and adhered it down. I cut a white square at 2 3/4," a glittery aqua square at 3"x3" and a brown square at 3 1/4"x3 1/4" and adhered them all togther. I added my ribbon loops behind the squares and adhered it all to the card base. The snowflake is cut from Winter Lace at 2 1/2." I pop-dotted it to the card for some dimension. I finished off the card with some aqua gems and three white buttons. Enjoy!I made this card for the following challenges:

Mice Birthday

This card is 4"x9." All the cardstock, except the white and the ivory, are from the Cafe Mediterranean Stacks by DCWV. I have had these two stacks for two or three years now and had never used them, so I thought it was about time. I used some patterned cardstock for the card base, then rounded the corners with a Fiskars punch. I cut some ivory cardstock at 3 3/4"x3 3/4" and rounded its corners as well. I then cut some glittery blue cardstock 1/8" smaller and rounded its corners. The presents are cut from Jolly Holidays at 3 1/2." Who knew the first project I would make using Jolly Holidays wouldn't even be a Christmas one?! The mouse is from Meow and cut at 2 1/4." I flocked the white part of him and used a black gem for his eye. I used foam adhesive to adhere him to the card for some dimension. I wrapped the other side of the card with two pieces of ivory ribbon. My sentiment is actually created from two different stamps. The "have a mice" is from a stamp by My Pink Stamper and "birthday" comes from a Scrappy Moms Stamp. You can see the two individual stamps and how they are supposed to look at the bottom right. I matted the sentiment with some glittery blue and green cardstocks and adhered it over the ribbon.

Eggs-traordinary

This is a 4 1/2"x6 1/4" card. Both patterned cardstocks are from the Nana's Kitchen Stack by DCWV. The card base is created from a patterned cardstock cut at 12"x6 1/4." I then folded it into a modified gate fold. The right side is 4 1/2"x6 1/" and the left side 3"x6 1/4." I used an oval to trim the left side into a curve. I cut some red cardstock at 4"x5 3/4" and some white cardstock 1/4" smaller. I ran the white cardstock through my Cuttlebug with the Polka Dots embossing folder. I cut a strip of cardstock 12"x2" and used a Fiskars scallop punch to cut one edge of it. I scored it and folded it to create a rosette. I then mounted it to the left side and added my eggs. The eggs were cut from From My Kitchen at 2 1/2." I wrapped the left side with some twine and added my sentiment, which is a Scrappy Moms Stamp. I added some glossy accents and diamond Stickles to the eggs for more texture.

Your Kindness Warms My Heart

This card is 4 1/4"x5 1/2." I used some snowflake patterned cardstock from the Winter Magic Stack by DCWV for the card base. I cut two ovals from George and Basic Shapes. The white one is cut at 4" and the light blue snowflake one is cut at 3 1/2." The light blue snowflake cardstock is from the Peppermint Forest Stack by DCWV. I layered the ovals together and adhered them to the card base. I then wrapped the card with some ribbon that I got at JoAnns. My cute little penguin is a stamp that I colored with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I used white flocking on the trim of her sweater and hat, although it doesn't show up real well in the photo. I covered the white part of her with glossy accents and covered the black part with a shimmery gel pen. I cut her out and used pop-dots to adhere her to the card. My sentiment is a Fiskars stamp that I stamped with starlight black ink, by Tsukineko. For the inside of the card I cut some shimmery blue paper 1/8" smaller than the card base, then cut some white cardstock 1/4" smaller than the blue. I stamped my sentiment in the same ink as I used for the front sentiment.

Christmas Tree

This card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used a green cardstock for the card base, then trimmed some red cardstock 1/8" smaller. I cut some blue cardstock at 4 1/4"x6" and cut it into 3/4" strips. I embossed the strips with the Large Snowflakes embossing folder and my Cuttlebug. I cut some striped paper at 4 1/2"x3," some green cardstock at 4 1/2"x2 1/8" and some pink cardstock at 4 1/2"x2." I wrapped it with some red and white twine. I stamped the Christmas tree on white cardstock and used a Nestie to cut the label around it. I also stamped the tree on green, blue, brown, pink and red cardstock. I then cut all the pieces out and paper-pieced the tree. I added fruit punch and x-mas red Stickles to the pink and red pieces. I used foam adhesive to adhere my label for some dimension.

For the inside of the card I cut some red cardstock at 4 1/4"x6" and some white cardstock at 4"x5 3/4." I used a Scrappy Moms Stamp, from the Holiday to Remember set, for my sentiment. It is stamped in jumbo java ink by Tsukineko.

Let It Snow

This is a 4 1/2"x6 1/4" card. I used red cardstock for the card base. I trimmed some patterned paper 1/8" smaller. The striped paper is 3"x4 3/8" and the green cardstock is 2 1/4"x4 3/8." I embossed the green cardstock with the D'vine Swirls embossing folder. I then added some limeade Martha Stewart glitter to the swirls. The snowflakes are from Winter Woodland, cut at 1 1/4" (for the white ones) using the real dial size feature. I covered them with diamond Stickles. I cut the pink snowflake from Winter Woodland as well. This one is cut at 1 1/2" and covered with bubble gum Martha Stewart glitter. I also used pop-dots to adhere it to the card for some more dimension.

I also finished the inside of the card. I cut some pink cardstock at 4 1/4"x6," then some green cardstock at 4"x5 3/4" and white cardstock at 3 3/4"x5 1/2." I used a Fiskars stamp for the sentiment and stamped it in pearlescent orchid ink by Tsukineko.

Joy

This is a 4 1/2"x6 1/4" card. I used red cardstock for the card base, then trimmed some green cardstock 1/8" smaller and the white cardstock 1/8" smaller than the green. I used my Gyspy to layout all the "Joy" words and drew them with my Cri-Kit pens, they are all 1 1/2." I wrapped the green and white cardstock with two pieces of ribbon. I cut a one "joy" in red, then covered it with ruby slipper Stickles and added three white pearls. The bow is actually made of paper. I found a video on a blog and made my own. I also added a drawn "joy" on the inside of the card. It was drawn at 1."

Frog Cards

A friend of my mom's wanted a card for a little boy's birthday. Apparently he loves frogs and the color orange. So, I made a couple of cards in order to give her a choice on which one she wants to use.This first card is 5"x5." I used orange cardstock for the card base, then cut some green cardstock 1/8" smaller. The final layer was cut at 4 3/4"x4 3/4." The frog was cut from the Playtime cartridge. I cut him at 4 1/2." I embossed the leaf layer with the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. I gave him some google eyes, covered his belly with firefly Stickles and covered the rest of his body with glossy accents. The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper.
This is the second card I came up with.This one is 4"x9." I used orange cardstock fo rthe card base. I then trimmed some orange gingham cardstock 1/4" smaller. The frogs and their squares are from Boys Will Be Boys, cut at 2." I embossed the inner square with the Distress Stripes embossing folder. The frogs are all covered with glossy accents and I gave them some google eyes. I used the same My Pink Stamper sentiment, but modified it a little for this card.

Thanksgiving Wall Decor

This is an 8"x10" wall hanging I made. I made it to replace the "Fright Night" wall hanging I made for Halloween. You can see that wall hanging here if you want.

I created the partial rosette from a 12"x3" strip of patterned paper from the Indian Summer Stack by DWCV. I used a Fiskars border punch on one side of it, then used my Martha Stewart score board to create the pleats. I folded it, then spread it out into a turkey tail. I got the idea for the turkey on the Cricut messageboard, by Camille Robinson, you can see that post here. She made a card from this guy, but I went larger and made him a wall hanging. Once I had my tail, I cut my turkey. He is cut from Animal Kingdom at 6." I covered his beak with glossy accents and used some brown gems for his eyes. The fancy acorn and leaves corner is from Art Nouveau. I cut it at 6" as well. The leaves are embossed with the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. I used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink on the embossing folder before I embossed them. The orange leaves were inked with vintage photo ink and the gold leaves were inked with wild honey. It doesn't show up will in the photos, but looks really nice in person. I embossed the tops of the acorns with the Swiss Dots folder and added glossy accents to the bottom parts of the acorns. I also pop-dotted the acorns. The pumpkins are cut from the Pooh & Friends cartridge at 2 1/2." I embossed the pumpkins with the Distress Stripes embossing folder and pop-dotted the smallest pumpkin. The apples and basket were cut from Doodlecharms. I pop-dotted the basket and placed four of the apples in the basket and one of them behind it. I added glossy accents to all the apples and crackle accents to the basket. I finished it off with some gems on the basket.

Twenty-Five

This is a 4 1/2"x6 1/4" card. I used white cardstock for the card base. I then cut some patterned cardstock at 4 1/4"x6." The patterned paper is from K&Company. I cut some strips of cardstock from white and two teal colors in random sizes. The two teal colors are from the Royal Garden Stack by DCWV. One is textured and the other is glittered. I layered them all together on the card base. I then used diamond and lagoon Stickles to outline all the strips of cardstock. I cut three circles from the teal and white cardstocks. The smallest circle is cut at 2 1/4," the white one is 2 1/2" and the largest circle is cut at 2 3/4." The numbers are cut from Storybook at 2." I covered the red part of the numbers with x-mas red Stickles. I added the Santa charm, then pop-dotted the circles to the card base. I finished off the outside of the card with some teal gems. For the inside of the card I cut some of the dark teal cardstock at 4 1/4"x6." Then I cut the red cardstock 1/8" smaller and the white cardstock 1/4" smaller than the red. I stamped my sentiment in rocket red ink by Tsukineko.

Joy

This is a 4 1/2"x6 1/4" card. I used a pink snowflake patterned cardstock for the card base. The three ornaments are all from the Christmas cartridge. The red one is cut at 3 1/2," the dark pink one is cut at 3" and the smallest one is cut at 2." I used a Nestie to cut the label from white carsdstock. I then stamped my sentiment, which is from Fiskars, on the label using lipstick red ink, by ColorBox. I used some foam adhesive to mount the label to the card. I used ruby slipper Stickles to draw around the edge of the label. I pop-dotted the smallest ornament, a little higher than the label.

I used the sketch from Day 251 at 365 Cards for the layout of my card.

With Gratitude

This card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used purple cardstock for the base. I then cut some shimmery teal cardstock 1/8" smaller and some striped paper 1/8" smaller than the teal. I used a Martha Stewart border puch to create my loopy fringe. I didn't adhere the loops down, so it gives it some added dimension. The flourish is cut from Cindy Loo (at least I think so). I cut it a while ago for something else, but wound up going a different way so I don't know what size it is. The leaf is from Straight From the Nest. I used my Gypsy to size it to fit the card. I stamped my sentiment onto the leaf with some purple ink, then heat embossed it with some clear embossing powder. I finished it off with some bling. Enjoy!
