Get Whale

This CAS card is 4 1/4"x5 1/2."  I used a grided blue card stock for the card base.  The white mat was created using the Silhouette Studio.  I printed out the sentiment, created with two fonts, then cut the bottom of the mat.  The bottom was created with a wave border by Stiknin' Cute Paper Piecings (#42856).  I used only one of the borders, the top one when looking at the file.  I like how the waves are colored by the base of the card using the negative space from the cut border.

The whale tail is from Hero Arts (#13533).  The actual cut is, in fact, a whole whale; I erased all but the tail, which is what I wanted.  I also kept the water drops and adhered them above the tail to look like a splash from the whale diving down under the water.

I made this for current CASology challenge.  Their cue word this week is "splash."

  1. What a great CAS design! I love the negative space waves too! The mixture of fonts in the sentiment adds some nice interest on this!
Thanks so much for playing along with us over at CASology this week! :)

  2. The sentiment I love it and the Idea of the Whale with the splash of water is Clever....great take on the Cue Card and I love the simplicity of your card...and I love the sentiment too...looks elegant...I think I see the winner here.. and good luck with the challenge dear Paula..

If you maybe have time my card is #30 on the CASology challenge, would be glad if you would like to see it and could leave me some love too...big hugs, Monika from Muenchen-Germany.

  3. Super adorable, and I love the way the gingham gives the whole card texture! The tailfin splash, perfectly done!!! ----Wonderfully CAS, awesome job!!!!
