Life's Sweet

This is a little departure from my recent Halloween creations. However, I thought it was nice to do something cuter rather than creepy or spooky. The card is 4 1/4"x5 1/2." I used a pre-made card by DCWV. I then trimmed a piece of polka-dotted cardstock 1/4" smaller and tied a sheer pink ribbon around it. The cake was cut at 3 1/2" from the Sweet Shop cartridge. I embossed the bottom layer with the Swiss Dots folder so the strawberry would have some texture. I also embossed the frosting layer with the D'vine Swirls folder. After embossing it, I covered the swirls with cotton candy Stickles. I stamped the sentiment on some pink cardstock, then matted it with some darker pink cardstock and adhered it to the card with pop-dots. I then added three pink pearls to the sentiment.

Card & Treat Box

This is a coordinating treat box and card I made for Halloween. The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used red cardstock for the base. I cut some black cardstock 1/4" smaller and embossed it with the Skeleton Scroll embossing folder. I covered the embossed parts with black diamond Stickles and gave the skeletons red eyes (x-mas red Stickles for the smaller ones and gems for the larger ones). I wrapped the black cardstock with a glittery red ribbon and adhered it to the card base. I cut the graveyard scene from Pumpkin Carvings at 3 1/2." I then cut a white piece of cardstock into a circle to put behind the scene. I used some frost shimmer mist on the white circle before putting the scene on top. It is hard to see the shimmer in the pictures, but it looks really good in person. I then used pop-dots to adhere the circle to the card.

I used Happy Hauntings for the coffin treat box. It is cut at 8." I then cut the layer for it and embossed it with the Skeleton Scroll embossing folder as well. I also used black diamond Stickles on the embossed portions and some red gems for the eyes of the skeletons. "RIP" is also cut from Happy Hauntings at 1 1/4" using the spooky font feature. I cut it out of glitter cardstock. I used the Martha Stewart drippy goo punch to create some blood seeping out of the coffin. The hand is also from Happy Hauntings. It is a layer of one of the frames on this cartridge. I thought the coffin needed someone trying to get out!I made these for the following challenges:

Fright Night

This is some Halloween wall decor. It is 8"x10." The background cardstock is from DCWV, the Midnight Spell Stack. The tree is cut from Paper Doll Dress Up. I cut it large enough to fit the page, I don't remember what size that was though. The vulture is cut from Life's a Party at 2 1/2." I used crackle accents on the head and feet, glossy accents on the beak, black diamond Stickles on the body and white flocking on the ring around the neck. The moon was cut using George and Basic Shapes. I was inspired by the moon I saw this morning on my way to work (yeah, I work early enough that it was still dark and the moon was out). It took me a while to find the right combination of colors and paper. I used an ivory cardstock and a yellow-tinted vellum, which I embossed using the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. The bat was cut from October 31st at 2 1/4." I covered it with glossy accents. The ghosts were cut from silver-tinted vellum at 2 1/2" (the ghost on the right) and 3" (the ghost on the left), both are from Happy Hauntings. The pumpkin is also from Happy Hauntings, cut at 1 1/4." I used the Distress Stripes embossing folder for the orange cardstock. I am loving this folder for pumpkins...it was like it was made for it! I used Happy Hauntings and my Gypsy to cut "Fright Night." It is cut at 1.15" using both the shadow and regular vampire font features. I adhered the moon and bat to the background cardstock. The tree was pop-dotted with thinner pop-dots, as was the title. Everything else was adhered with thicker pop-dots, except the ghosts. I adhered the lower part of them to the background cardstock, then curled them up slightly for some dimension. I am putting this in a shadow box to hang on my wall for Halloween.

Embossed Angel

This is a 5"x5" card. The card base is made from silver cardstock. I then cut some shimmery blue cardstock 1/4" smaller. I created the patterned background by stamping the sentiment repeatedly, using night sky ink by Tsukineko. The angel is stamped onto the shimmery blue cardstock, using embossing ink. I heat embossed it using some silver embossing powder. I then trimmed the cardstock and cut some silver cardstock 1/4" larger. I added a couple of silver ribbon loops in between the blue and silver mats. I adhered that piece to the card base using some foam adhesive.

Halloween Treat Bags

These two cute little monster treat bags are from the Mini Monsters cartridge. They are both cut at 5." I used K&Company double-sided cardstock for both bags. I then used solid cardstock for the rest of the pieces. I added glitter to the black and purple half-circle. I also used glossy accents on the mouth and teeth of the two monsters. I also gave them some google eyes because I thought they were so perfect for these cuties!

Christmas Boxes

Back in August I altered a set of papier mache boxes, you can see the post here, using the Lemon Flower Stack by DCWV. I had some more of those boxes and decided to make a Christmas set. I covered the boxes in Christmas paper, and some shimmery green cardstock for the sides of the lid. I then covered the sides of the boxes and lids with mystic green Stickles. The flower is from Mother's Day Boquet. The flower has two layers cut at 4," two layers cut at 3 1/2" and two layers cut at 3." I inked the edges and put some gold pearls in the middle of the flower. The leaf is also from Mother's Day Boquet, cut at 3." I then drew around the edges of the leaf with diamond Stickles, I also added them to the gold pearls. The layers of the flower are pop-dotted together.

A Couple of Christmas Cards

This card was created using the Day 216 sketch at 365 Cards. It is 5"x5." I used a pearlized cardstock, then embossed it with a snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder. I cut a square of gold shimmer cardstock at 4"x4" and some green shimmer cardstock at 3 1/2"x3 1/2." I stamped the wreath image on some white cardstock, then embossed it with gold embossing powder and trimmed the cardstock to fit.

For the inside of the card I cut some gold shimmer cardstock, green shimmer cardstock and white cardstock 1/8" smaller than the previous layer. I then stamped my sentiment on the white cardstock and embossed it with gold embossing powder.

For my second card I used the sketch at Die Cuttin' Divas. I am also entering it into Cooking with Cricut's "anything goes" challenge. This is a 5 1/2"x4 1/4" card. I used a pre-made DCWV card for the card base. I cut some red Core'dinations cardstock at 4"x2 3/4" and some patterned green paper at 3 3/4"x2 1/2." I cut a triangle from the red cardsock and used a Martha Stewart border punch on the edge of it. I also wrapped the rectangle with some gold ribbon. The ornament is cut from the Christmas season cartridge and pop-dotted to the card.

For the inside of this card I cut some red cardstock 1/8" smaller than the card base, then cut some green shimmery cardstock 1/8" smaller than the red cardstock. I cut some white cardstock 1/4" smaller than the green and stamped the sentiment using pearlescent ivy ink by Tsukineko.

Happy Haunting

Here's a nice spooky Halloween 12"x12" layout. The patterned cardstock came from the DCWV Midnight Spell stack, except for the green mat, which is by K&Company. The large photo mat is for a 4"x6" photo, and the three small ones are for 2 1/2"x3 1/2" photos. The corner spider web is from October 31st. The cricular spider web and the black widow spider is from Pumpkin Carving. The bat is from Wrap It Up and the jack-o-lanterns and title are from Happy Hauntings. I covered the spider webs with diamond Stickles, put glossy accents on the bat's wings and the hourglass of the black widow. I used crackle accents on the spider. The jack-o-lanterns are embossed with the Distress Stripes folder. I used purple flocking powder on the body of the bat and the title. I also gave the bat some red gem eyes. I finished it off with a spider button on the circular web.

Halloween Cuties

I found these stamps at Michael's in the dollar bin and I just couldn't resist. I thought they were too cute. As soon as I saw them I knew I wanted to make a card set with them. All four of these cards are 4 1/4"x5 1/2." I used black cardstock for the card base, then trimmed some patterned cardstock, from K&Company, 1/4" smaller for my next layer. I wrapped the patterned cardstock with ribbon that I got at JoAnn's. I used a Martha Stewart corner punch for the webs in the corners. I stamped the images on white cardstock then heat embossed them. I matted them with some purple and mottled green cardtock. I then colored the images in with glitter. Once they were dry I adhered them to the card with pop-dots. For the inside of the card I matted some white cardstock with purple cardstock. I then stamped my sentiment, which was also from the dollar bin at Michael's. These were not made for any challenges, just because I thought they were adorable and wanted to create a cute little card set for Halloween.

Fabulous Fall

This fun fall card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used a wonderful shimmery orange cardstock for the card base. I then cut some brown cardstock 1/2" smaller and some ivory cardstock 1/8" smaller than the brown. I cut the tree and all three pumpkins from Mini Monsters. The wheelbarrow is from Walk In My Garden. I gave two of the pumpkins Peachy Keen faces, the other one is how it comes on Mini Monsters (I just love that face). The leaves are punched. I pop-dotted the wheelbarrow, then layered in some leaves and the pumpkin. I then pop-dotted in the last layer of leaves. The other two pumpkins are on the ground with some leaves and I finished off the front by adding just a few leaves to the tree.

For the inside of the card I cut some brown cardstock 1/8" smaller than the card base, then some ivory cardstock 1/8" smaller than the brown cardstock. The "have a" part of the sentiment is stamped. I then drew over it with a shimmery orange pen. I used Straight From the Nest for the "fabulous fall" part of the sentiment. I finished it all off by covering the fall part in paprika Stickles.I made this card for the following challenges:

Duckie Onesie

This cute little card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used an ivory cardstock for the card base, then cut some green cardstock 1/8" smaller. I then cut some bird patterned cardstock 1/8" smaller than the green cardstock. I cut a strip of green cardstock 4"x1 3/4" and some yellow cardstock at 4"x1 1/2." I used a Martha Stewart border punch on both pieces, then wrapped them with some yellow ribbon. I cut the onesie from Everday Pop-Up Cards at 3 1/2." I embossed the light yellow part of the onesie with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. The little duckie is cut from Baby Steps. It is actually the layer for the safety pin cut on that cartridge. It is cut at 2" which makes the duck about 1" real size. I covered the duckie in yellow glitter, added some glossy accents to the wing and beak and gave it a gem for an eye. I used pop-dots to adhere the onesie to the card. For the inside of the card I stamped both the sentiment and the little chick in yellow ink, then embossed them with clear embossing powder.
