Fin-tastic Mermaid Tail

The card base is called Trapezoid Card Base, from SVG Cutting Files.  I used the "Everyday Paper Dolls" cartridge for the sand.

The waves were created using the "Give a Hoot" Cricut cartridge.  I used the slice and weld features of Cricut Design Space to make the wave shaped mats and cut them out of light blue card stock and vellum.  I used wild honey and orange marmalade Distress Ink on the edge of the yellow mat to give it a sunset appearance.

The seaweed is from the "Pirates and Mermaids" cartridge.

The mermaid is also from SVG Cutting Files, it is one of the Mermaid Tails cut file.  I embossed the tail with one of the Animal Print embossing folders by Cuttlebug and the fin of her tail with the Herringbone embossing folder.  The sentiment is from the Under the Sea stamp set by Jaded Blossom.

The sentiment on the inside of the card is from the Supersize Birthday Greetings stamp set and the fish is from the Fish On stamp set.  Both are also from Jaded Blossom.

More Reading Bears

After seeing the retirement card I made, my mother requested three more cards of the reading bear.  However, this time she wanted to use them as birthday cards, she also wanted to change the color scheme, just slightly.  Really the only thing she wanted changed was the color of the book, from blue to green.  Here are the birthday cards:

They are the same as the retirement card in every way, except the color of the book and the size of the grey banner strip.  Since I didn't note what size it was in my other post I just made something to fit.  This one is 5 1/2"x1 1/4."

The other difference is that I finished the inside of these three cards.  I used the same sizes as I did on the front, I just did not emboss the small white mat and left out the banner.  I then used another Peachy Keen Stamp, from the same January 2013 Stamp of the Month Kit, for the sentiment.

If you want the dimension I used click here to see the original post.

Reading Bear

Today's card was made for my mother to give to a friend of hers who is retiring.  They both worked at the library together, hence the reading bear.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4."  I used white card stock for the base, then cut a black mat at 5 3/8"x4 1/8," and a pink polka dot mat at 5 1/4"x4."  The next black mat is 3 3/4"x3 1/4" and the white mat is 3 5/8"x3 1/8."  The white layer is embossed with an embossing folder, from The Paper Studio, called Stripes.  I put a strip, cut into a banner, of grey polka dot paper behind the smaller layers.

The book is from "Everyday Paper Dolls."  It is cut at 2.667."  It can be found on page 67 of the handbook, the accessories 1 feature.  I cut it twice, once in white, then again in the blue patterned paper.  I trimmed the blue piece to be the cover and layered it over the white, which are the pages.

The bear is a Peachy Keen Stamp, from the January 2013 Stamp of the Month Kit.  I stamped it on grey polka dot paper and cut it out.  I added some whites to the eyes then covered them and the nose with glossy accents.  I adhered the paws to the outsides of the book, then adhered the head behind it to look like the bear is reading.  The center of the book is adhered with foam tape for a little added dimension.  I left the card blank, mostly because I don't have a stamp for "happy retirement."  I figure my mother can add her own sentiment to the inside.

Halloween Layout

This is a double layout I made of my pictures from Halloween 1985. I was two months shy of my 4th birthday and my brother is 6 months old. The patterned background cardstock is from K&Company. The black cardstock was punched with a Martha Stewart border and corner punch. I double matted all the photos. The bats and spider were cut from Paper Doll Dress Up. The bats are coverd with glossy accents and the spider is flocked with google eyes and purple Stickles for the mouth. The fence is from Pooh and Friends, I ran it through my Cuttlebug, using the Distress Stripes embossing folder and some tea dye Distress Ink. The cat is cut from Everyday Paper Dolls, with some black pearls for the nose and eyes. The pumpkin is cut from Designer's Calendar, and I used it for my journaling space. "Happy Halloween" is cut from Lyrical Letters and I covered it with orange peel Stickles. I used pop-dots to adhere the cat, spider and bats.

Yawn!

This card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used dark brown cardstock and layered it with the dark green cardstock that I embossed with the Spots and Dots embossing folder. The orange circle is cut at 3 1/4" and the white circle is cut at 3." The little baby is from Everyday Paper Dolls and cut at 3 1/2." I cut it in both white and turquoise paper. I embossed the white layer with the Swiss Dots folder and I flocked the turquoise layer to make it fuzzy. I stamped the face with my newest set of Peachy Keen faces, Basic Paper Face Assortment. I then stamped some white cardstock with the sentiment, "welcome to the world." The stamp is from Fiskars and the ink is turquoise gem from Tsukineko.

Cornucopia

Here is an autumn card I made that I actually like a lot! I've been making a few, but most I haven't liked or I thought they were so-so, but this one I really like. :) The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used paper from Debbie Mumm's Harvest and Holiday paper stack that I got last year. The background paper, the strip of yellow patterned paper, the patterned border paper, and the paper for the cornucopia are all from that stack. The rest of the plain paper is from my stash, I got to use some more scraps for this one. :) I laid out all the pieces on my Gypsy so I could figure out how I wanted it to look and how big to cut everything. I don't remember sizes of everything anymore, except the sentiment. That was cut at 3/4." The cornucopia itself came from Paper Doll Dress Up. The pumpkin came from Everyday Paper Dolls. The corn and apple are from My World. Finally, the wheat stalks, squash, tomato and cucumber and the sentiment are all from Country Life.

This card is being entered into the following challenges:
Paper Playtime: autumn
Paper Sundaes: fall/halloween colors
My Sheri Crafts: autumn
Fantabulous Cricut: in my garden harvest time
Pile It On: red, brown, green, yellow
