It's Your Bird-Day!

Here is a cute little spring birthday card I made today. It is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used a polka-dotted cardstock for the card base. I trimmed some pink plaid cardstock at 3"x5 1/4" and gave it a yellow mat that is 1/8" larger. I adhered it all down and added some white ribbon with some yellow pearls. The bird is cut from Create a Critter at 3." I flocked its stomach for some texture. The nest is also from Create a Critter, cut at 1." I embossed it with the Forest Branches folder. The branch is cut from Hoot 'n' Holler. I used my Gypsy to size it to how I wanted. I turned off the aspect ratio and cut it at 4" long by just over 2" tall. I think it came to 2.02," but I am not 100% sure. I inked all my pieces, the bird was inked with tea dye Distress Ink and the nest and branches were inked with vintage photo Distress Ink. I used a Peachy Keen stamp for the face and the sentiment is a stamp from My Pink Stamper. Both of those were stamped with walnut stain Distress Ink. I used pop-dots to adhere the bird for some dimension.

Hoo's Having a Birthday

This is a 6"x6" card. I made the card base from white cardstock, which I then completely covered with the patterned paper. I loved the pattern on it and thought it was perfect for my card. It was already 6"x6" and I didn't want to cut it, so I just made the card that big and covered up the whole front with the paper. I love how it looks. The cute little owl is from Create a Critter, cut at 2," and I used a Peachy Keen Stamp for the face. I just LOVE this little face!! I colored in the beak using an orange marker and used a white gel pen for the dots on the eyes. The sentiment is from Hoot 'n' Holler, cut at 2 1/4." I used a bunch of primary colored buttons on this one and used pop-dots to adhere my owl. I think it is the perfect little kid's card.

This is a 3 1/2"x9" card. I used an orange cardstock for the card base, then layered it with brown polka dotted paper and yellow patterned paper. The brown paper is cut at 8 7/8"x3 3/8" and the yellow paper is cut at 8 5/8"x3 1/8." The owl is cut from Hoot 'n' Holler at 2 1/2." I used a stamp from My Pink Stamper and jumbo java ink by Tsukineko for the sentiment. I then added a little doodling.I made this card for the following challenges:

New Home

My friends, who are getting married soon, just bought a new house and I thought I should send them a card congratulating them on that milestone. There were a couple of challenges that are perfect for that occasion so, I made this card, which is 5"x7." I used a white cardstock for the card base, then cut some red cardstock 1/8" smaller. I embossed the red cardstock with a Sizzix embossing folder, called Bricked. I cut a strip of glittery black cardstock, which is from Core'dinations, at 7"x1 1/2." I then used a Martha Stewart border punch on it. I wrapped it with some ribbon that I got at Michaels and added three rhinestones, which are from Bazzil. The flourishes are cut from Cindy Loo. The large black one is cut at 2" and the yellow one is cut at 1 1/2." The glittery yellow cardstock is from DCWV, the Glitter Stack. The plain cardstock is all from my stash, I don't know who the manufacturer is any more. I cut a mat from the glittery black cardstock at 3"x4 1/2, then cut some cream cardstock 1/4 smaller. The house is cut from Hoot 'n' Holler at 2 1/2." I embossed the roof with the Cuttlebug Tiny Mosaic folder. The sentiment is actually two seperate stamps from Close to My Heart. I used some foam adhesive to adhere that all down to the card. I made this for the following challenges:

All Kinds of Owls!

For some reason all three cards I made today were owl cards. I didn't really plan it that way, but it turned out that way. :) I made the first one as a good-bye card for a friend of mine and her family. They are moving to Georgia. Her husband is in the Army and he is being stationed there. I used the Cricut Lite cartridge, Hoot 'n' Holler for this one. I thought the sentiment was perfect and the little owl family couldn't be better for this card. I used the animal crackers paper stack from DCWV for the patterned paper. The second card I made today was for a couple of challenges. The first is today's sketch from 365 Cards and the second is from Doodle Dragon Studios, which is to make a friendship card, using one of Dustin Pike's images. I chose to use the owl image because I had a sentiment stamp that said, "owl be thinking of you today," and I really wanted to use it. I used George and Basic Shapes to cut the ovals that the owl is matted on. The background stamp is from Stampendous. I used the distressed stripes embossing folder on the cream strip of paper for some more texture. I wrote out the "hi friend" by hand and stamped my sentiment on the inside. I really like the monochromatic look. My eye is drawn to the owl because of its orange feet and beak. I just love this image, it is too cute. I really like a lot of Dustin Pike's images, check them out here. My final card for the day was for the Jitterbuggin' challenge this week. This week's challenge was to follow the sketch, make it a children's birthday card, use the color purple, and of course use your Cricut. I used Hoot 'n' Holler on this one again. I also used George and Basic Shapes for the circles. All the paper on this one came from the DCWV Latte stack.
