Jungle Love

This layout is going to be part of an 8"x8" scrapbook that I am putting together to go with my friends' wedding album.  After the wedding and all of the beach pictures the photographer took some pictures of the bride and groom in the jungle.  I wanted to incorporate those pictures, but they didn't work in the wedding album I made, so I am making an 8"x8" album to go along with it.  I think it should work well since there aren't many of the jungle pictures.  This will be the first page in that album.
It is 8"x8" (obviously) and I used some patterned cardstock from the Anthology stack by Colorbok.  I matted the photo, which is 4"x6," with some tan cardstock also from the Anthology stack.  It is cut at 4 1/4"x6 1/4."  I used Art Nouveau for the word "Jungle."  I welded it using Cricut Craft Room and cut it at 1 1/4" from some glitter cardstock.  I used Country Life for the "love" banner.  It is cut at 1 1/2."  I glued it to some twine and wrapped the twine around the page.  I used Life is a Beach for my leaves.  The palm leaves are cut at 2 1/2" and 2" and I flipped the 2 1/2" leaf.  I cut the tall vine leaf at 6" and also flipped it.  I adhered the small palm leaf and the word "Jungle" to the page with foam adhesive.

I used the sketch from Stuck On U Sketches to create this layout.

Down on the Farm

My husband went to the Twin Cities this weekend. We visited the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Minnesota Zoo. The current challenge at BBTB2 was perfect timing then, and it gave me an excuse to scrapbook some of my pictures right away. Their challenge is to create a project with a farm theme. One of the sections we visited in the zoo was the farm section, so I used the theme and the pictures we took in that section. I also used the challenge at Exploring Cricut, which is to use a Disney cartridge, to create this layout. I like how it turned out and I hope you do too!
The layout is a 12"x12" double layout. I used two pieces of light blue cardstock for the base of my layout. I then ripped two pieces of patterned green paper by K&Company for the grassy hills. I matted all my photos with white cardstock and added a second mat to the photo of the horse and piglet. All the mats are cut 1/4" larger than the photos. I used County Fair for the barn, it is cut at 3 1/2." I embossed the front of the barn with Distress Stripes and the hay with Forest Branches for some texture. I also added glossy accents to the silo. I used Graphically Speaking for all the clouds. I added flocking to the two clouds that I didn't use for journaling. I used Country Life for the title, the font is cut at 1 1/2." I used Toy Story for Woody and Bullseye. Woody is cut at 5" and Bullseye is cut at 4." I used pop-dots to adhere the smaller journaling cloud and the picutre of the little piglet.

Christmas Horse

I can't believe how long it has been since I posted something. And that is actually how long it has been since I have crafted as well. I got so busy with school. Both of my finals were last Friday and I spent so much time studying and preparing for them. I got only one wrong on my Medical Terminology final and 100% on my Biology final! How awesome is that?!! :)
This is some wall decor I made for my dad and his wife for Christmas. They have three horses and the horse on here looks a little like one of them. It is 12"x12." I used some snowflake patterned cardstock for the base of the decor, it came from the Winter Magic Stack by DCWV. I cut the hills and sun from Country Life. I used my Gypsy to make it as large as possible. All the hills are covered with different types of white glitter, which is hard to tell unless you see it in the light. The hills are all pop-dotted. The horse and fence are also cut from Country Life at 5 3/4." I pop-dotted the fence and the horse. I used some white ink on his leg and the stripe on his nose and gave him a black pearl for the eye. The Christmas lights are from Create a Critter, cut at 1." I used some x-mas red, green and gold Stickles on the lights. The wreath around the horse's neck is from Joys of the Season. I cut it twice, once with a dark green and once in a lighter green. I use glossy accents on the berries on the wreath. The "Merry Christmas" is from Blackletter. I used my Gypsy to weld and cut the letters. I also used glossy accents on the title.

I am entering this in the Die Cuttin' Divas "Holiday Decor" challenge.

Flaunt It Fridays Challenge #18

It is Friday and that means it is time for another Flaunt It Fridays challenge!! This week the challenge is to flaunt the sheep cut from Country Life. For my project I decided to create a corner bookmark. I used a 4"x4" piece of black cardstock and marked it at 2" on three of the sides. I then scored it on the diagonal and folded it over. I adhered the flaps down and coverd it with a triangle of white cardstock that I embossed with D'vine Swirls. On the front I adhered a piece of grass patterned paper that is 1/8" smaller than the black piece. I then used another white embossed triangle at the top. The sheep is cut at 2 1/2." I flocked the white part of him with some white flocking powder and used a black pen to draw in the swirls. So that is how I flaunted the sheep from Country Life. Head on over to Flaunt It Fridays and check out how the rest of the design team flaunted it as well. Then, create your own project using this cute little sheep! I can't wait to see how you flaunt it!! :)

Easy Peasy

This card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used white cardstock for the card base, then cut some green plaid cardstock at 5 1/4"x4." I cut the peas at 3" from Country Life. I mounted it on some shimmery white cardstock, cut at 2 1/2"x3 1/4," and embossed with the Polka Dots embossing folder. I also cut two other pieces of shimmery white cardstock, one at 2 1/4"x2 1/4," and the other at 1 1/4"x2 1/4." I cut pieces of blue cardstock 1/4" smaller and mounted them on the white pieces. I stamped my sentiment, which is from My Pink Stamper, in mediterranean blue ink by Tsukineko. I tied some white twine through three buttons and mounted them on the card.
I made this card for the Thursday challenge at 365 Cards. The challenge was "Thinking in Thirds" - divide your card into three parts, so that nothing overlaps from one part to another. I also made this for the challenge at Cricut Cardz, which is to make a Valentine card using only green, blue and white. Enjoy!!

Word of the Day Cards Part 2

I got my final three word of the day cards done for last week's 365 Cards challenge. So, without further ado here they are:

Thursday's word was "Peace." I used sketch #202 from CPS for the layout of this card. I also used the challenge at Paper Sundaes, which was "distressing." I also used the photo inspiration from Crafty Hos for the idea of this card. The card is 3 3/4"x9." I sanded the edges and inked the edges for the distressing. I also used some alcohol ink and rubbed it on the card to add to the look. I cut some blue patterned paper at 4"x3 3/4" and adhered it to the card. I then edged the paper with some dark blue ribbon and layered that with the patterned blue ribbon. I cut the three peace symbols from Cars. The largest is cut at 2" and the smaller two are cut at 1 1/2." The sentiments are from a stamp in my stash.

Friday's word was "Love." For this challenge I made a matching card and treat box set. I used Laura's sketch at 2S4Y for the card and I also made this for the 3-D/template challenge at Just Us Girls. I used Tags, Bags, Boxes & More for the heart box. I then wrapped a ribbon around the box. I cut the cupid from Sweethearts at 2 1/4." I embossed the white layer with Swiss Dots. The "for you" is also from Sweethearts, cut at 1 3/4." I used some xmas red Stickles around the heart at the top of the box. The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and I used the same paper that I used for the box. I cut some shimmery red cardstock at 5 1/2"x2 1/2." I then cut some white cardstock 1/4" smaller and embossed it with the Swiss Dots folder. The cupid is cut at 2 1/2" and the "love" is cut at 1 3/4."
Saturday's word was "Happiness." I used the sketch by Kazan on 2S4Y for this card. The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of white cardstock. I cut some floral patterned paper at 5 1/4"x4" and adhered it to the card base. I wrapped some blue ribbon around the card and tied it off. I then stamped the sentiment on some white cardstock and then trimmed it to fit. I cut some glittery blue cardstock 1/4" larger and adhered it all to the card. The vase and flowers is from Country Life and cut 2." I finished it off with some flat-backed pearls in the center of the flowers.

Three Cards

If you are looking for the Hello Kitty Blog Hop, scroll down to the next post, or click here for the actual post!

I have three cards for you today. The first is a Mother's Day card, the second a wedding card, and finally a thank you card.
The Mother's Day card is for Friday's 365 Cards challenge. Their challenge was to use teabag folds on your card. I did the dahlia fold and made a large flower. I found instructions here, if you would like to try your own.
The card is 6"x6." I made it out of pink cardstock and layered it with a green cardstock, cut at 5 7/8"x5 7/8." I adhered down the eight pieces of the flower and added a flat-backed pearl to the center and pink gems to four of the petals. I then finished it off with some doodling in the corners. It is nice and simple, but looks quite complicated.
I made this wedding card for my cousin, he is getting married in July. I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. I also used the challenge that Emma put forth for "Throwback Thursday" at My Creative Time, which was to use an older cartridge and include hearts. I love when I can use challenges to make a card that I needed to make in the first place.
The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4," and made it out of white cardstock. I layered on black cardstock, cut at 4 1/4"x6" and embossed with the polka dots Cuttlebug folder. The hearts in the circles are from Designer's Calendar, cut at 2." I used silver paper for the hearts and backed them with some dark red. The square in the middle is cut at 2 3/4" in white, the black square is 2 5/8" and the red square is 2 1/2." The "Mr. & Mrs." sentiment is cut at 2 1/4" from Sweethearts. I used a corner rounder on two of the opposite corners on each layer of the card and square. I then used foam adheseive to adhere the square to the card. I finished off this card with some gems for a little bling.
The final card I have today is my Thank You card. I made this card for the Cuttlebug Spot's challenge, which was to be inspired by a book. I chose the children's book, "Ugly Pie." My mother works for a library and does the storytime for children once a week. She read this book recently and even made the pie. She has been talking about it, so I read the book and when this challenge came up it was a no-brainer. :) I also made this for For Fun Challenge, which was a recipe (very appropriate, now that I think about it): 1 image, 2 buttons or brads, 3 papers. I also made this for the Paper Cutz challenge, which is to use metal on your project.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I used some glittery patterned cardstock from the Nana's Kitchen Stack, by DCWV. I wrapped some brown ribbon around the bottom part of the card. The sentiment was stamped on a white cardstock square, which is 2." I then ran it through the swiss dots Cuttlebug folder. I layered that on a square of green dotted cardstock, cut at 2 1/4." I added a little heart button to the sentiment and used foam adhesive to attach it to the card. The pie/rolling pin image is from Country Life, cut at 2 1/2." I used some shimmery white paper and cut the shadow of the image. I then cut all the layers. The tin for the pie is cut from craft metal. Once I had it adhered to the image I used an embossing stylus to create the lines in it and make it look more realistic. I embossed the rolling pin with distress stripes and the pie crust with d'vine swirls. Once they were embossed I then chalked them for some dimension.

New Year's Card

The challenge at 365 Cards is to have at least two images of things you would find at a celebration on your card. This paired really well with the challenge at Paper Cutz Challenge, which is to make a New Year's project using a banner and any colors you like.

This card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4." I made it out of black cardstock and then trimmed a piece of white paper 1/8" smaller than the black. I stamped the white paper with a $1 stamp that I got at Michael's. I used some starlite silver ink by Tsukineko. I strung a piece of shiny red thread across the top for my banner. I cut the banner from Country Life at 1 1/2." The wine bottle and glasses are cut from silver cardstock at 2 3/4." The sentiment is cut at 1 1/2," I used black cardstock, silver cardstock and a foiled red cardstock. The wine bottle and the sentiment are cut from Celebrate with Flourish.

Cornucopia

Here is an autumn card I made that I actually like a lot! I've been making a few, but most I haven't liked or I thought they were so-so, but this one I really like. :) The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used paper from Debbie Mumm's Harvest and Holiday paper stack that I got last year. The background paper, the strip of yellow patterned paper, the patterned border paper, and the paper for the cornucopia are all from that stack. The rest of the plain paper is from my stash, I got to use some more scraps for this one. :) I laid out all the pieces on my Gypsy so I could figure out how I wanted it to look and how big to cut everything. I don't remember sizes of everything anymore, except the sentiment. That was cut at 3/4." The cornucopia itself came from Paper Doll Dress Up. The pumpkin came from Everyday Paper Dolls. The corn and apple are from My World. Finally, the wheat stalks, squash, tomato and cucumber and the sentiment are all from Country Life.

This card is being entered into the following challenges:
Paper Playtime: autumn
Paper Sundaes: fall/halloween colors
My Sheri Crafts: autumn
Fantabulous Cricut: in my garden harvest time
Pile It On: red, brown, green, yellow
