Mermaid

The card base is a step card made using a cut file from SVG Cutting Files.  It is called Center Step Edged Curved Card Base.  I cut the white circle with one of the Stitched Circle Dies from Jaded Blossom.  I then cut the grey layer with a Spellbinders die called Picot Edge Circles.  The waves are from the "ZooBalloo" Cricut cartridge.  I used some diamond Stickles on the white caps of the waves.  I used some blue, grey, and white sequins to finish off the card.

The mermaid and sentiment on the circle are from the Mermaid Kisses stamp set by Jaded Blossom.  I colored the image with Distress Ink markers by Tim Holtz.  I then added some Wink of Stella to the blue of her hair and her tail.  I also used some glossy accents on her eyes.

The seashell is from the "Sea Shells" digital cartridge.  The sea weed is from the "Splish Splash" cartridge.

The sentiment on the side part of the step card is also from Jaded Blossom.  The "happy birthday" part is from the So Many Birthdays 2 stamp set and the "from under the sea" is from the Mermaid Kisses stamp set.

I made this for the following challenges:
Color Throwdown: color challenge
Die Cuttin' Divas: water safety or blue
Cute Card Thursday: more than one fold

Seahorse

This is a 5 1/2"x4 1/4" card made from kraft cardstock. I then used some K&Company patterned cardstock, cut 1/8" smaller as my next layer. I cut a strip of dark blue cardstock at 4 1/4"x2 1/8" and adhered it to the card base. I cut some more patterned cardstock 1/8" smaller and adhered it to the dark blue strip. The seahorse is cut at 2 1/2" from the Splish Splash cartridge. I mounted it on some white cardstock, cut at 2 3/4"x1 1/2." I then cut more dark blue cardstock 1/8" larger and adhered it over the strip. I wrapped the card with a light blue ribbon and added a metal seahorse charm to it. I finished it off with the sentiment, a stamp, using ocean depth ink by Tsukineko.

I made this card for the following challenges:

Under the Sea

This one is for a couple of challenges that I think work really well together. One is the Paper Playtime, where the theme is "bubbles." And the other is Cupcake Inspirations, where you use the pictured cupcakes as your inspiration. This time they are cupcakes with mermaids, starfish and sea turtles. I used the mermaid from Life is a Beach and used the Cuttlebug on her fins. I also took the colors from the cupcakes for the colors of her. The fish and bubble border is also from Life is a Beach, using the border feature. I used Waterfall Stickles on the bubbles and blue flat-backed pearls on the eyes of the fish. The seaweed comes from both Life is a Beach and Splish Splash. The bubble being lifted by the mermaid is from Splish Splash. I used the Cuttlebug on the background as well. I love how it all turned out, makes me feel like going for a swim. Enjoy!
