Friday Mashup Challenge #50

It is time for another Friday Mashup! This week is challenge #50 and here is the challenge:
1. Make a project using the sketch
2. Or make a project using the "faux mother of pearl technique"
3. Or "mash it up" and create a project using the faux mother of pearl technique and the sketch
I decided to mash it up for my project. I created a card using the sketch and used the faux mother of pearl technique for the background of my card. I found a tutorial for the faux mother of pearl technique here, if you want to see how I create my background. I used weathered wood Distress ink and white opal Liquid Pearls to create the faux mother of pearl background. My card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I cut a 2 3/4" circle from George and Basic Shapes, then a 3 3/4" scalloped circle from Mini Monograms. I stamped the swan image on the circle and heat embossed it. I stamped the sentiment on the small white rectangle using the same ink as I used for the swan. I wrapped the card with some sheer white ribbon and tied it off in a knot. I added my scalloped circle to the card with 1/8" thick foam adhesive. Once I had created my background everything fell into place. I knew it would make a perfect sympathy card since it looked so serene and peaceful. I hope you like my project and I hope you decide to play along with us this week at The Friday Mashup!

Party Time

This is a 12"x12" single page layout. The background cardstock is from My Mind's Eye, as is the cardstock for the scalloped circle. The patterned cardstock for the photo mat is from DCWV. The rest of the cardstock and paper is from my stash. The scalloped circle was cut from Mini Monograms at 10." I used Once Upon a Princess for the rest of the cuts. The title was cut at 3" and the tag behind it was cut using the cut to length feature at 7 1/4." The white tag was cut at 3" and I added two butterfly brads to the sides. The rose was cut at 2 1/2." I embossed the rose with the D'vine Swirls folder and the party hat was embossed with the Swiss Dots folder. The photo mat was cut at 4 1/4"x6 1/4" and the lime green layer was cut 1/8" larger, this way it is ready for a 4"x6" photo. I adhered everything to the base layer, except the rose...I used pop-dots to adhere that to the page.

My Lil' Cupcake

This is a 4 1/2"x6 1/4" card. I made the card base from red cardstock. I then cut some white cardstock at 4 1/4." I cut it in three pieces: 3," 1" and 1 3/4." The piece that is 1 3/4" is cut in half. I embossed all the white pieces with the D'vine Swirls embossing folder. I used Mini Monograms to cut the scalloped pink circle and the white circle, both at 3." I then stamped a cupcake image onto the white circle and mounted it to the card with pop-dots. I added two heart shaped buttons to the top left corner and the sentiment is a sticker I had in my stash. I finished it off with bow, attached to the scalloped circle.

I made this card for the following challenges:

October 31

BBTB2 is featuring Mini Monograms this week. The design team was asked to use the numbers, with any creative feature for their projects. They came up with some great projects, so be sure to check them out. I just got Mini Monograms about a month ago and haven't used it yet. I got a lot of inspiration from the design team to come up with the card that I made. I used the bonus sketch from 2S4Y this week.

The card is 6 1/4"x4 1/2." I use paper from both DCWV, their Midnight Spell stack, and K&Company. I cut out the 3 and 1 at 2," using the dots feature in the orange/black dotted paper. I used the shadow feature to cut out the solid black to put behind the numbers. I then pop-dotted them on the green piece of paper. I used the letter only feature and my Gypsy to create the word October so that it was going vertical. The ribbon is a self-adhesive ribbon I got a Joanns. I stamped "trick or treat" on the inside and used the 3 and 1 that were cut out in the corner.
