Waving Hello

Here is a quick and simple card for you today.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4," and made from dark purple card stock.  The blue mat was cut with a rectangle from "George and Basic Shapes."  I used Cricut Craft Room to size it at 5 3/8"x4 1/8," this required turning off the aspect ratio.  I used the rectangle found on page 116 of the handbook.

The waves are from the "Going Places" cartridge.  They were cut at a length of 5 3/8," and I cut three of them.  They are on page 113 of the handbook, I hid the sailboat since I only wanted the waves.

The sailboat and sentiment are both Paper Smooches stamps.  They are both from the Wicked Nauticool stamp set.  I stamped the sailboat on white card stock, fussy cut it out, then colored in the mast and body of the boat with the vintage photo Distress Marker by Tim Holtz.  I adhered it so that it was slightly under the second layer of waves.  The sentiment is not actually one long one, but stacked with waving above hello.  I masked it off to create the long one since it worked better with the layout of my card.  It is stamped in black Versafine ink by Tsukineko.

And now the inside:

I cut more of the blue card stock at the same size, 5 3/8"x4 1/8," this time I did it with my straight trimmer though.  I then cut a white piece of card stock at 5 1/8"x3 7/8."  I used more Paper Smooches stamps for the inside as well.  The sentiment is from the Word Up set.  I then added a heart and some waves, both from the Wicked Nauticool set again.  The heart was stamped in purple hydrangea ink by Tsukineko and the sentiment and waves were stamped in the black Versafine ink again.  I then added a little bit of blue to the waves with the tumbled glass Distress Marker by Tim Holtz.

I made this for the following challenges:
Color Throwdown: color combination

CASology: cue card - sea

Paper Smooches Sparks: anything goes

Fantabulous Cricut: anything goes

Pioneer Park

It has been a while since I have participated in a Cooking With Cricut challenge, but I am so glad to be back. I have been so busy lately. I just started school again, so I have all kinds of homework and that fun stuff. Their challege this week is "Family Fun," so I created a double layout with some pictures of my mom's trip to visit my husband and me in Alaska.

It is a 12"x12" double layout. All the paper I used is from K&Company. The photos are all various sizes. The three on the bottom of the left page are 3 1/2"x5." I matted them all on one piece of dark blue paper. The title is from ZooBalloo, cut at 1 1/4." I matted them on strips of dark blue paper as well. I then used a dark blue marker to add some doodling. The hiking guy is from Going Places, cut at 3 1/2," and I cut off the walking stick. The jumbled "discover" word is from Graphically Speaking, cut at 2 1/2" and covered with weathered wood Distress Stickles. The two fish are from Nifty Fifties, the larger one is cut at 4 1/2" and the smaller one is cut at 3 1/2." I covered the smaller one in baby blue Stickles and pop-dotted the larger one. I also added a long space for journalling.

Ride

Yet another layout of some pictures from my high school trip to Sweden. I am bound and determined to get this album done. It works out so well when I can create something for the album to meet a challenge or two, like this layout. It is a 12"x12" layout. The background cardstock is from K&Company and I thought it was perfect with those little bikes on it (they are kind of hard to see though - just take my word for it). I cut a piece of shimmery orange cardstock at 6 3/4"x8" and a piece of ivory cardstock at 6 3/4"x7." I adhered them together and then adhered them to the page. I added the picture and the bus pass. I then used Going Places to cut out the bus and the bike, using the regular and shadow features on both. The bus is cut at 2" and the bike is cut at 1 1/2." I used Don Juan for the title, it is the under pressure creative feature. It is cut at 1 1/4." I then attached all my cuts and added some faux stitching to the title. I finished it all off with the journaling.

I made this page following the sketch at Papercraft Star. I also made it to meet the challenge at My Sheri Crafts. The challenge there is "transportation." I thought a bike and a bus met that, plus that WAS my transportation in Sweden (for the most part).

Pastel Thank You Set

Here is a pretty little gift card set I made today. The gift cards are 3"x3" and made from a light purple cardstock. I cut a piece of light blue cardstock at 3"x2 1/2." I then punched both sides with an EK Success border punch. The scalloped oval is a Nestibilties die. I framed each oval with flat-backed pearls. I tied a piece of ribbon in a knot and then attached it to the top of the card. In each oval I added an image. The blue flower is from Mother's Day Boquet, cut at 1 1/4." The tulip is from Freshly Picked, cut at 2," and I cut off the root/bulb part of the cut. The rainbow is from Hello Kitty Greetings, cut at 1." The sun is from Going Places, cut at 1 1/4," using the fit to length feature. Finally, the heart is cut from Designer's Calendar, cut at 1 1/4," and I added some dots cut from a hole punch. I stamped the sentiment, which is from Fiskars below each image.

The envelope gift box was made to fit these gift cards. The tutorial can be found here. I modified it to fit 3"x3" cards. I used a light purple cardstock again. I layered it with some light blue and white cardstock. The heart rainbow is from Create a Critter and cut at 1 1/2." I also used the shadow feature on it as well. I added some flat-backed pearls in the bottom corners and finished it off with a ribbon. The ribbon is also the closure for this envelope.

I made this card for the following challenges:

Fun in the Sun

Yet another summer card! One of these days I will start getting down to making fall and halloween cards, but not yet. I made this simple, sunny card using today's sketch from 365 Cards. I used the inspiration from My Sheri Crafts, which is Labor Day. Since Labor Day is unofficially the last day of summer I wanted to make a summer card. Maybe Labor Day will mark my last day of making summer cards for a while. ;) I'm not going to count on it though.
The card was premade and 3 1/2"x5." I rounded off the corners and added some white cardstock, cut 1/4" smaller than the card. I wrapped the ribbon around the white cardstock. The striped paper was from my stash and cut so there was a small border of white showing. The sun is from Going Places and cut at 1 1/2." The stamp is from my stash and I matted it with the same yellow-orange as the inner layer of the sun. I finished it off with a couple of stickers from my stash. I think it just screams summer...my last hurrah to summer!

You & Me

The card I made for the challenge over at Bitten by the Bug 2, the challenge was to use the cat or dog from Going Places. I decided to use both and created a cute romantic card. I had the chipboard heart and centered it on the card. I then cut out the You & Me from Opposites Attract (perfect huh?) and glued it on. Then I cut the cat and the dog from Going Places at 2" and I flipped the dog and used pop dots to adhere them. I added a couple of black pearls and thought it turned out quite nice.
