Seahorse

This is a 5 1/2"x4 1/4" card made from kraft cardstock. I then used some K&Company patterned cardstock, cut 1/8" smaller as my next layer. I cut a strip of dark blue cardstock at 4 1/4"x2 1/8" and adhered it to the card base. I cut some more patterned cardstock 1/8" smaller and adhered it to the dark blue strip. The seahorse is cut at 2 1/2" from the Splish Splash cartridge. I mounted it on some white cardstock, cut at 2 3/4"x1 1/2." I then cut more dark blue cardstock 1/8" larger and adhered it over the strip. I wrapped the card with a light blue ribbon and added a metal seahorse charm to it. I finished it off with the sentiment, a stamp, using ocean depth ink by Tsukineko.

Two Blog Awards!!

I can't believe it, but I just got two more blog awards: Thing of Beauty Award and Liebster Blog Award.

The Thing of Beauty Award was created by Grace at Gracenotes For Today. I was given this award by Tanya, at Nonna's Craft Corner, thank you so much Tanya! There are just a few rules in receiving this award:
  1. Save the award to your desktop and then add it to your blog.
  2. Choose 5 recipients to pass this award on to and list one reason why you feel their blog or work is special.
  3. List 5 things about yourself, including one thing you love about crafting.

One small request, it is not a rule, but Grace would appreciate it if you would link back to her blog when you display the award on your blog. Here are the 5 blogs I chose for this award:

  1. Janis @ Pause Dream Enjoy - for all her cute creations and all the work she puts into the blogging community
  2. Saundra @ Luv Scrapping Together - she provides such great inspiration
  3. Elsa @ Cricut Lvr - for her wonderfully creative imagination and her beautiful blog
  4. Pam @ Simply Pam - I love all her cute Cricut creations
  5. Christina @ Card Creations & More by C - I love all the quilling she does, such gorgeous work and now creating wonderful things with her Cricut

Now for the five things about me:

  • I have been married for six years, my husband is in the Air National Guard
  • I have one brother, who is a Navy pilot
  • I have lived in Minnesota, Montana & Alaska....currently back in Minnesota
  • When I lived in Alaska I lived in North Pole, it is near Fairbanks, and was on the North Pole Fire Department
  • I started off my crafting with scrapbooking, but have branched out into cardmaking and altered items and I am loving every minute of it!

The Liebster Blog Award is the second award I received. I got this one from Amy at Love to Crop, thank you Amy! This award was created for bloggers who have fewer than 300 followers, but still put a lot of love and heart into their work. Now I have to pass along this award to 3-5 other bloggers who I feel deserve this award. Here are the ones I picked:

Pastel Thank You Set

Here is a pretty little gift card set I made today. The gift cards are 3"x3" and made from a light purple cardstock. I cut a piece of light blue cardstock at 3"x2 1/2." I then punched both sides with an EK Success border punch. The scalloped oval is a Nestibilties die. I framed each oval with flat-backed pearls. I tied a piece of ribbon in a knot and then attached it to the top of the card. In each oval I added an image. The blue flower is from Mother's Day Boquet, cut at 1 1/4." The tulip is from Freshly Picked, cut at 2," and I cut off the root/bulb part of the cut. The rainbow is from Hello Kitty Greetings, cut at 1." The sun is from Going Places, cut at 1 1/4," using the fit to length feature. Finally, the heart is cut from Designer's Calendar, cut at 1 1/4," and I added some dots cut from a hole punch. I stamped the sentiment, which is from Fiskars below each image.

The envelope gift box was made to fit these gift cards. The tutorial can be found here. I modified it to fit 3"x3" cards. I used a light purple cardstock again. I layered it with some light blue and white cardstock. The heart rainbow is from Create a Critter and cut at 1 1/2." I also used the shadow feature on it as well. I added some flat-backed pearls in the bottom corners and finished it off with a ribbon. The ribbon is also the closure for this envelope.

Card Creations & More Challenge #4

It is time for another So Saturday Challenge at Card Creations & More by C! This week the challenge is to make your project SPARKLE!! I had to think for a while on this one, but I think I nailed it!
I had this paper maiche pencil box that I got at JoAnns a while ago and I decided I wanted to use it for this project. All the cardstock I used is from My Mind's Eye, the Deena's Penny Lane stack. I used some glittery striped cardstock and I cut it to fit around the box. I then used some satin mod podge to seal it. I added mermaid Stickles around all the edges of the box for some more added sparkle. The flowers are all from Mother's Day Boquet. I cut all the layers in various sizes, all from patterned cardstocks. I used some purple bling for the centers of each of the flowers. I used some pop-dots to adhere the purple and blue flowers and adhered the green flower right onto the box. I added the bling swirls for even more added sparkle.

Hope my project helps inspire you to create something with a lot of SPARKLE! Head on over the Card Creations & More by C to join the challenge. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

The cat is cut at 3 1/2." I covered the kitty with some glitter. The set of butterflies was cut at 2 1/2." I embossed all the wings of the butterflies with the D'vine Swirls embossing folder. On the largest butterfly I added a button for its head and used some black diamond Stickles on his body. I pop-dotted the orange flower, small yellow butterfly and the orange butterfly. Enjoy!!

I made this card for the following challenges:

Fishing Boy

This card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used white cardstock for the card base. I cut piece of blue cardstock at 6 1/4"x1 1/4." I then wrapped it with a white ribbon and a black and white ribbon. The zig zag piece came from an EK Success border punch. The little fishing boy is from A Child's Year. He is cut at 3." The circle behind him is cut at 3 1/2" and I distressed the edges of it. The white sqare is cut at 3 3/4" and the blue square is 4." I stamped the sentiment, which is from Fiskars, in night sky ink by Tsukineko. I trimmed the white layer to 2"x1 1/4." The blue layer behind it is cut at 2 1/4"x1 1/2." I then distressed the edges of the blue layer. I adhered everything to the card base and added three black buttons to finish off the front of the card.
I also decorated the inside of the card. I cut a piece of blue cardstock at 4 1/4"x6" and then distressed the edges of it as well. The fish were cut from Camp Out. The one in the upper right corner was cut at 1 1/2" and the one in the lower left corner was cut at 1." I then stamped the sentiment on the inside. The stamp is from Fiskars and I used the same ink as the sentiment on the front of the card.

Flaunt It Fridays Challenge #13

It is Friday and that means it is time for another challenge at Flaunt It Fridays!! This week the challenge is to use the match box cut on Tags, Bags, Boxes & More. This cut can be found on page 124 of the booklet and page 65 on the online manual. The specific cut they asked for was just the bottom portion of the box (the inside). I used both that cut and the top (or outside) of the box, which is the previous cut.
I cut the inside of the box at 4" and the outside of the box was cut slightly larger, I think 4.10" or 4.20." I used my Gypsy to size everything, I made this box to fit a gift card. I used a green cardstock for the box. Once they were cut, I embossed the top part of the gift box with the Polka Dots embossing folder. I then assembled the boxes and cut a piece of floral paper to fit inside the bottom portion of the box. I think the inside should be pretty too! :) The flowers are from Mother's Day Boquet. I cut four flowers in various sizes, two in pinks and two in yellows. I inked the edges of the flowers and curled up their petals. I cut the middles from the cartridge as well and then inked the edges and stmped Peachy Keen faces on them. I used pop-dots to adhere the middles to the flowers. The leaves are also from Mother's Day Boquet. I used a paper crimper on them and then inked them. Nice and simple....and perfect for a springtime birthday or thank you!!

That's all for my project....now it is your turn. Head on over to Flaunt It Fridays and join in our challenge! I can't wait to see what you all come up with. :)

Flowers & Bee

This is a 3 3/4"x9" card, made from a dark brown cardstock. I left the background plain so the other elements would pop more. All the cuts came from the Paisley cartridge. The bee was cut at 2 1/2" and I used the shadow feature on it as well. I cut the wings twice, once with shimmery white cardstock and once with vellum. Once it was assembled, I then folded up the vellum layer of wings, for some dimension and to make it seem like he was flying. The flowers on this card were made using the button feature on this cartridge. I cut them both at 2" and then embossed the flowers with the D'vine Swirls folder and the flower centers with the Swiss Dots folder. Once all the cuts were adhered to the card base I finished it off with some buttons, two butterfly ones and a flower one.

Little Leprechaun

Here is a fun shape card, and I love how it turned out! The card shape, the top hat, is from A Child's Year. I used my Gypsy to weld two 5" top hats together. The cut actually has a shamrock in it, but I hid it using the hide countour feature on the Gypsy. I used a shimmery dark green cardstock for the hat. I then cut the hat band using a light green glitter cardstock. I added some faux stitching around the edge of the hat with a white gel pen. I cut the top hat again at 5" with a plain light green cardstock for the inside. I then used a dark green marker to add some faux stitching on the inside as well. I stamped my sentiment, which is from Studio g, in black ink and then I heat embossed it with a glittery embossing poweder. I added glitter to the word "irish" for some glitz. The leprechaun is from Simply Charmed and I cut him at 3 1/4." I added some glossy accents to his buckle, button and shoes and used some black pearls for his eyes. I also inked his cheeks and added some faux stitching around his jacket and hat. The pot of gold is also from Simply Charmed and cut at 1 3/4." I used some glossy accents on the pot and some yellow Stickles on the gold. I then used pop-dots to adhere the pot of gold to the card.

I made this card for the following challenges:

This is a 5"x5" pop-up card. I used a light blue cardstock for the card base. I cut a piece of shimmery dark blue cardstock 1/8" smaller than the card base. I cut two pieces of the grass patterned paper at 2 1/4"x4 5/8." I then embossed it with the Seeing Spots embossing folder. The dinosaur is cut at 2 3/4". I embossed the blue layer with the Tiny Bubbles folder. I used buttons for his spots and gave him some google eyes. I cut some light purple cardstock in a 3" square and embossed it with the Forest Branches folder. I cut some dark blue cardstock 1/8" larger, layered them together and adhered it to the card base. The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, using blue iris ink by ColorBox. I stamped it on light purple cardstock, then matted it with the dark blue and light blue cardstock. On the inside I used the shimmery dark blue cardstock to create the pop-up layer. The dinosaur on the inside is also from Create a Critter. He is cut at 3." I embossed his green layer with the Tiny Mosaic folder and attached him to the pop-up layer.

Snappy Birthday!

Here is the card I made for my father-in-law's birthday. I got no input from my husband about what to make, so this is what I came up with. He should like it....I hope so, at least. The card is 4 1/2"x6 1/4." I used a maroon cardstock for the base. I cut some navy blue cardstock at 4 1/8"x5 1/2" and some white cardstock at 4 3/4"x3 5/8." I then layered them all together. I then doodled around the edges of each piece, in white gel pen on the maroon and navy cardstocks and with a navy blue marker on the white layer. I wrapped the card with a polka dotted ribbon, I found it in my stash and it was perfect. I then cut the three circles from George and Basic Shapes at 1 1/4." The crab is from Create a Critter, cut at 1 1/2." I used some black flat-backed pearls for the crab's eyes and used pop-dots to adhere him to the card. The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper and I stamped it in maroon ink by ColorBox.
I created this for the challenge at Paper Sundaes, which is to use masculine colors. I also used the sketch challenge from The Paper Variety for the layout of my card.

Thinking of You

This is a 5 1/2"x4 1/4" card I made using kraft cardstock, for the base. I then cut a piece of aqua cardstock at 5 1/4"x4" and rounded the corners. I cut a piece of white cardstock at 5"x3 3/4" and rounded the corners also. The melon colored labels, and the aqua one, are Nesties. I layered the two melon colored ones on the white cardstock and then wrapped the card with some aqua and white polka dotted ribbon. I embossed the aqua Nestie with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. The tulip is from Bloom, cut at 2." I also used the shadow feature on it. I adhered that directly onto the aqua label and then used foam adhesive to adhere the label to the card. I stamped my sentiment, using celadon ink by ColorBox and finished off the card with some flat-backed pearls in all four corners and patina Stickles around the edge of the aqua label.
I used the Super Sketchy Sunday sketch from 365 Cards and the colors are the challenge at Just Us Girls. Enjoy!!

I adhered the rectangles to the card base and then used some foam adhesive to adhere the label to the card. I stamped my sentiment onto the label, the stamp is by Fiskars. Sensational Scenes Blog Hop

Welcome to the Sensational Scenes Blog Hop!! If you came here from Darlene then you are in the right place. If you just happened across my blog and would like to participate in the blog hop then head on over to Christina's blog to start at the beginning. For this blog hop, we were asked to create a scene, something like a beach scene, snow scene, water scene....etc. I decided to create a desert scene. I am working on a scrapbook for a trip I took to Arizona and I thought a desert scene would work perfectly for my scrapbook. I made a 12"x12" scrapbook page. I used a dark red cardstock for the base. I then trimmed the patterned paper 1/4" smaller and adhered it to the dark red cardstock. I created a place for a 4"x6" photo. I used a teal cardstock, cut at 4 1/8"x6 1/8" as my first mat, and a shimmery orange cardstock for my second mat, it was cut 1/8" larger than the teal. I used Paper Doll Dress Up for the desert rocks. I used a dark orange cardstock for one layer and the shimmery orange cardstock for the next layer. I then inked around the edges of the rocks. The cacti are from Old West. I then inked the edges of them and also use a marker to add to the texture of the cacti. The rocks and the snake are also from Old West. I used some black pearls for the snake's eyes. I also used pop-dots to adhere the snake and one of the smaller cacti, for some added dimension.

Make sure you check out everyone's blogs on this blog hop, leaving comments, and end at Christina's for your chance to win a set of stamps from Scrappy Moms.
