Owl Easel Card

I was recently asked to make a baby girl card and to match the mother's theme I made an owl one.

This happens to be an owl-shaped easel card.  I got the file from the Silhouette Store.  It is called "A2 Lori Whitlock Owl Easel Card" and is by Lori Whitlock (#42702).  I cut the card so that it is about 4 1/4" tall when folded.  The bow doesn't belong to this cut.  I got it from the "Ollie the Octopus" cut file by Sweet Elsie (#38592).  I just sized it to fit the owl.

I used white card stock for the base, stomach, and eyes.  The middle of the eyes is just black card stock.  I covered the eyes with glossy accents.  The feet and beak are yellow card stock that I covered with yellow Stickles.  The bow was cut from a dark pink glitter card stock, I popped up the middle of the bow with foam tape.

The body of the owl was cut from polka dot card stock from the Nana's Nursery Baby Girl Stack by DCWV.  The paper used on the heart and the inside background came from the Lime Twist Stack by My Mind's Eye.  The card stock used for the branch was from The Sweetest Thing Stack, also by My Mind's Eye.  Finally, the card stock for the leaves was from The Great Outdoors Stack by The Paper Studio.  The larger leaf was popped up with foam tape, since that is where the foot of the owl rests to keep it propped up.

The sentiments are both from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  The "congratulations" on the heart is from the "Mini Messages" set.  The sentiment on the inside of the card is from the "Special Delivery" set.

I made this for the "Cute Critters" challenge currently being hosted by My Craft Spot.

  1. I love owls, easels, and all things sparkly... so this card naturally brought a smile to my heart! :o) I've seen this adorable file, but would never have thought to make the base a sky. It looks fantastic! The papers are so sweet, as are your sentiments. This will be love! Thank you for sharing your cute critter with us at My Craft Spot!
