Watermelons

I made two similar shaped cards today.  Watermelon-shaped cards:

The smaller card was made with the Cricut.

I used the half watermelon shape on the "Preserves" cartridge to create my card.  I welded two of the green bases together, then layered on all the other pieces.  The seeds are covered in glossy accents.  The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the Sweet Somethings set.  I then finished it off with some green gems.

I am entering the Cricut one in the current challenge at BBTB2, which is watermelon.

The larger card was made with the Silhouette.

It is called "watermelon shaped card," by Alaa' K (#9871).  I used the same colors and patterned papers as I used for the Cricut card.  The seeds are also covered in glossy accents.  However, I used a different sentiment on this one.  It is again from Scrappy Moms Stamps, this time the Dancing in Circles set.  I used dies from My Craft Spot to cut out the circle and the lacy circle behind it.  I then added a button to the middle to finish it off.

Phone Case Vinyl

Just recently my old decal on my phone started to fall apart, so I wanted to replace it.  I am a fan of the TV show, "The Walking Dead," and thought I would make something from the show to put on my phone.  What better image than the wings from the back of Daryl Dixon's vest?!  I think it turned out pretty nice.

The wings are a jpeg, that I converted into a cut file in Cricut Design Space.  I cut them twice.  The first was an outline in dark grey, which is a little hard to see against the black phone case.  The second was the insides of the wings in white.  I put the grey outline where I wanted it on the phone, then filled in all the spaces with the white pieces.

Tee-riffic Golfer

I was feeling pretty craft today and made a second card:

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4," and made with black card stock.  The background is from Elegant Edges, cut at 4 1/4" wide.  I embossed the white layer with the Polka Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder, the flipped it to use the de-bossed side, making it look similar to the dimples on a golf ball.  I cut the circle using one of the insertable shapes available in Cricut Design Space.  The golf bag is from All Sports.  I then added some enamel dots in the corners.

The adorable minion golfer is an svg from a blog hop hosted by SVG Cutting Files.

The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps, the For the Boys set.

I made this for the following challenges:
Fantabulous Cricut: fun in the sun
Scrappy Moms Stamps: play, game, hobby, etc.
SVG Cutting Files: anything goes

Elephant Shaped Card

Today I have a cute shaped card for you:

I used the "B is for Boy" cartridge to cut the elephant shape at 5" wide, which makes it a little shy of 4 3/4" tall.  I pieced it all together, using a dark grey enamel dot for the eye.  I cut the elephant shape twice.  I adhered them at the top, scoring the back side 1/2" down to fold open.  I also cut a straight line across the bottom of the ball so that it would stand on its own.

The sentiment is a stamp from Jaded Blossoms, the So Many Birthdays set.

I made this for the following challenges:
BBTB2: shaped card
Color Throwdown: color combination

My Sheri Crafts: child's birthday

It Must Be Wedding Season

It is that time of the year where it seems everyone is getting married.  My cousin is, in August, but I already posted the picture of the card I made for him.  My husband's cousin is getting married at the end of July, but we can't make it out to the wedding since it is in Oregon.  So, I made a card that we can send along with a gift card.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of ivory card stock.  I cut a purple square at 4."  The music note card stock is 3 7/8" square and I cut the heart out twice, once at 2" and once at 1 3/4."  I got rid of the larger one so the purple would show through.  The smaller one is popped up with foam tape.  The hearts and squares are shapes from Cricut Design Space.  The sentiments are from My Craft Spot, the Happily Ever After set.

This other wedding card was made a while ago, but I just never got around to posting it.  I made it as a commission for a friend of mine who needed a wedding card for her cousin's wedding.  Her only request was a "tie the knot card," literally where a knot is tied when the card is opened.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4," when folded.  It is a gate-fold style card.  The wedding dress and tuxedo are from "Sweethearts."  Both are cut at 5."  The wedding dress is embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, but I no longer remember which one.  I also added a few pearls to the dress and tux.  I used some baker's twine to create the knot and printed out the sentiment on the computer.

Camping Treats

This weekend my husband and I are going camping with some friends.  It will be at a campground, so nothing rustic.  I thought that since we will be going with other people, most of whom have children, it would be fun to make some treats to give the other families.  So, I made little treat boxes in the shape of campers.

The camper boxes are from SVG Cutting Files, and the file is called Camper Box.  I made four since I actually don't know how many we will need for sure.  One family is staying the week with us, others will be there for only a weekend or a couple days.  My husband said four should be a good amount.

I decided one had to look a little like an Airstream trailer, since it is the classic example of a camper.  I used a banner die from My Craft Spot to cut the banner, on which I put my sentiment.

I filled some treat bags with enough fixings to make four s'mores.  I then tied off each bag with baker's twine that coordinated with the colors on the box.

Also inside the box are three types of Hershey's kisses: regular, extra dark, and caramel.  I used some candy stamps to put little camping sentiments and pictures on the bottoms of the candies.

All the stamps, both sentiments and candy ones are from Jaded Blossoms.  The sentiments are from the The Great Outdoors set and the candy stamps are from the Camping Candies set.

I am entering this in the current challenge at Jaded Blossoms, which is Crafter's Choice

Tree

My husband needed a sympathy card for a co-worker.  Since he is really not much help in deciding what he would like, I used the current challenge at BBTB2, which is summer trees, to inspire me to create something for him.

The card is 5 1/2"x4 1/4" and made of dark brown card stock.  I cut an olive green mat at 5 3/8"x4 1/8" and a brown polka dot mat at 5 1/4"x4."  The polka dot mat is embossed with the Cuttlebug embossing folder Birds and Swirls.

The tree is from the "ZooBalloo" cartridge.  The tree is actually just an outline, so I cut it three times, each time hiding contours to get the color to show through where I wanted.

The banner and sentiment are both from My Craft Spot.

Viking Rag Quilt

A while back I found this really cute fabric at work.  It has little cartoon Vikings on it and we carry it in a fleece, Ultra Cuddle, as a no-sew throw kit, and a flannel.  When I saw it as a flannel I knew I would love to make a rag quilt with it, but didn't want to make it for our house and I have no children, so I just let it be.  I kept coming back to it and when I mentioned it to my husband he suggested I make it for our camper.  That was a fantastic idea!  I got some of the fabric and found others I thought went well with it and today I finished the quilt.

I made the quilt to fit the mattress in our camper, it is about 63"x81."  The squares are 9" finished and I used a 1" seam allowance to give me a nice fringe.

Besides the Viking print, I had a wood grain print, plain orange, a gold with pale yellow polka dots, a dark green with lighter green spots, and a lighter green that has a slight cross-hatched pattern to it.  The back is a plain khaki color, which you can slightly see in the fringing.

Here is a better look a the cute Viking fabric that inspired it all!
