My husband's birthday is this coming Friday and since I'm not doing a cake with candles I thought I would make something else...since you have to be able to blow out a candle on your birthday! I found a candle and created a candle holder for it. I used the candle box cut from Wrap It Up and cut it at 9 1/2." I put it all together and added some yellow glitter to the candle flames. I then wrapped the holder with some turquoise ribbon. I cut four more candles from Wrap It Up at 4." I inked around the edges of the flames with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I then stamped four different Peachy Keen faces on the flames. I adhered them to the middle of each side with some foam tape for dimension. I stamped four sentiments, all from Scrappy Moms Stamps, on some light blue striped paper and trimmed it to fit. I then matted each one with some dark blue cardstock cut 1/8" larger. I then added those to the candle holder with some pop-dots. I finished it off with some midnight blue Stickles around the edge of the "happy birthday" sentiment mat. I think it turned out so cute and will be the perfect little thing to hold a candle for my husband to blow out on his birthday.
I made this for the following challenges:
- Peachy Keen: 3-D objects - candles
- Fantabulous Cricut: birthday project with a candle
- My Sheri Crafts: project for a family member
- BBTB2: boy project with the color blue
This is so cute...great idea...although my hubby would totally sulk if he didn't get a cake...he has a sweet tooth that he tries to hide. Lee-Ann :)
