Pilgrim Birdie

Fall is definitely in the air up here. Most of the trees are bare and what few trees actually have leaves left are brown and yellow. I do miss the bright colors I saw when I lived in the midwest, but fall up here is still pretty spectacular....and COLD! This morning it was 29 degrees when I got up. I just hope we beat the snow out of here when we move. Fall was definitely my inspiration for this card. I made it for the Jitterbuggin' challenge. The rules this week were: follow the sketch, add a Cricut fall element, and add something plaid. I also made this for Crafty Creations Challenge, where the inspiration was "falling leaves."
The card is 6 1/4"x4 1/2." I used a plaid cardstock from the Guy Stack by DCWV. The strips of patterned paper are from the Indian Summer stack by DCWV. I layered them on a piece of light tan cardstock. One of the strips is 6 1/4"x1" and the other strip is 4 1/2"x1 1/4."
The mats for the bird are cut out of scraps of cardstock. The red mat is cut at 3 5/8"x2 7/8," the tan mat is cut at 3 1/2"x2 3/4." I cut the pilgrim birdie at 3" from the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge. I just love this cartridge!! :D I was able to use up a bunch of scraps while cutting him out. The leaves are two punches, the maple leaf is an EK Success punch and the oak leaf is a Marvy Uchida punch. I layered the leaves around the corners of my mats. I also put some leaves on the inside to tie it all together. The stamp is one I picked up in the dollar bin at Joanns. I used Tsukineko Memento ink, rhubarb stalk, to stamp it onto the tan cardstock. I used the same red and tan cardstock for the inside matting as the ones I used on the front of the card.
